Please help me get out of the dark ages. I've been doing approx 10 shows/year for 5 years. Now that my husband is finally retired we have planned on doing 3 shows a month (gotta love the travel). In the past I've just used a manual credit card machine and inputted the info to my online merchant account (have for my website) when I got home. I'm fairly sure I want a Nurit (gpsr) 8000 or the new 8020. But I'm ignorant as to how it works and who I have to involve. I will run the charges thru my current website merchant account. Do I also need to set up something with a cell provider? I currently use AT&T.... do I just get another account with them? What do I do first? Purchase the phone; call AT&T; call my merchant account people (Intuit)? Does it use a sim card as the cell does? Who connects that?
I can't believe I'm this ignorant about this technology. I thank you in advance for any insight you can provide!

I have used the Nurit 8000 for a couple of years now and I love it. It's very simple to use and very reliable. The percentage you pay with this type of machine is much less than you pay with the 'knuckle buster', and it's really fast. The wireless fees are usually about $15.00 per month, but it all evens out when you take the percentage savings into account. My advice though, is not to buy one, but to do an online search for 'free Nurit 8000'. You will find merchant providers who will loan you a free machine when you open an account with their service. I use Money Tree, but it's not the only one out there. The only other advice I would offer is to keep it out of the sun, because it goes all wonky when it gets hot, but my calculator does that, too. I live in the South, so I do some pretty warm shows. Good luck--you won't believe you waited so long to make the switch!! ~Caroline
Hi Linda, you and your retired husband have a busy art show venue. Electronic technolgy changes so rapidly that it is difficult keeping up, especially us ancient ones, I just figure everything out on my own. However, this would be difficult for many so don't consider yourself in the negative frustrated case. I can not advise you about the Nurit 8000 or the 8020 models, so it would be best to contact your merchant acount agent, obtain a manual and figure it all out for yourself, therefore, you will have the correct operating procedures rather than relying upon someone elses opinion. Afterwards, contact AT&T per your iPhone interfacing with the Nurit models...Good LUCK with more electronics !
