Cash Box vs Apron

What is the best way to handle money at a craft fair?  Cash boxes are heavy and need to be locked inside a cabinet.  Assuming, of course the display is designed to have a solid counter with lockable cabinet.  The other option is the apron.  I think the apron would be great in that I could easily walk around.  On the other hand, I'm not sure I can trust myself to not drop dollars while getting things in and out of the pockets.  What method do you use?  Why does it work for you?

  • My daughter turned me on to the Vera Bradley wallet purses.  I don't work with change and will round down for a customer paying cash.  It holds my bills, my license and credit card.  Everything I need for a show and it is very light.  It has a strap that goes over my head so I can even break down with it on.

  • Another opton is the small zippered body bags that strap around your waist. I have seen quite a few artists using them and some have multiple compartments.

  • We have a bank bag, the kind with the zipper and usually the bank's logo on it.  We have a spot to store it in the booth.  Anyone looking for a bag would have a hard time finding this one due to the color of it, where it's store and the colors in the booth.  I know that no system is foolproof so I know this is not 100% anti-theft.  When we are not working the booth, like in the evening, we can put out square devices in this bag as well and take it all with us.  I also keep receipts from the weekend in this bag.
