  • Thanks, Ginny.

As I was going to a new city this weekend I just went for the "show's" hotel. Turned out great but it was $150 a night. Friends pricelined and ended up with a Sheraton 3 blocks away for $55. (The kind of cool thing that happened is that I had no bath towels for two nights or a bathmat and they comped me a room for one night).

I was with a bunch of artists this weekend in Philadelphia and they were raving about Air BnB. Have you ever used it?

    • No, this is the first I've heard fo Air BnB. Looks very interesting, tho.

Cool story about your hotel in Philly. Glad it worked out.

My best hotel story was for Cherry Creek this year. Three of us booked direct on the Marriott website for our hotel for the show - we got the 3* Marriott Courtyard in Cherry Creek for only $15 per night for five nights. Yes, that is correct!! It normally goes for $119 per night. We charged it to our credit cards and received confirmations. Tried to pass the word to other artists but about a half hour later it was gone. Talk about a steal!!

      • I tried for it, but it was gone already. I think I booked at the artist rate. May try Priceline or Hotwire as the show gets closer. Amazing find, Ginny! Hope they don't bump you down to the storage closet in the basement! LOL.

      • That is amazing! When's the last time you paid $15 for a room? l950?

How could that have happened? Directly at the Marriott site? not on Priceline?

        • Yes, directly on the site. I didn't start staying in hotels (motels, then) until about 1970. Probably paid $15-20. I'm sure it was a computer error on the site. Too bad more artists couldn't have taken advantage of it before it was fixed.

  • Thanks for the info.  Everybody needs that here.
