  • Richard, we would LOVE it if more people took a few minutes to submit a show review.  Writing a review does not have to take a long time.  Many people use these reviews to help put their show schedules together.

Show reviews can be written for shows you love to do and for shows that have not be your favorite.  All reviews are good reviews.

We have over 600 art shows listed on our www.Artshowreviews.com website.  If artists stop reviewing shows our site won't be as valuable as it should be.  So,  if every member of AFI would submit at least one review in 2019 it would really make a difference to help keep our website valuable.

  • I think many people have moved to Facebook where comments are behind a heavily managed wall (no promoters).

  • I agree with Barry Shandler. There is lots of money to be made close to home (CO). I drew 300 and 500 mile radii on my atlas, then did shows in Salina,KS, Tubac, AZ, Georgetown, TX and Austin, TX. I made money at all of them but they were not that much better than Colorado resort area shows which had lower travel expense, less loss time in studio and fewer hassles with taxing agencies.  It's also easier for post show clients to stop by the studio if they are locals. The shows in CO that I don't waste my time or money on are Cherry Creek and those managed by them or copy cats (Crested Butte and now Golden- I did both for many years). Their jurrist don't have a clue about quality leather work and China imports slip past them (MHO based upon 60 years professional experience and 45 years inbusiness).

  • Who knows????  After 30+ years of exhibiting I decided to change my life style. No more long trips, high fee big city shows, big hotel bills, and brutal long exhibiting hours,    I searched the following for smaller closer to home show information and even spent some money on the "premium level".

Festivalnet,Findfestival, ArtFairSourceBook,ArtFairCalendar,ArtFairInsiders,ArtFairReviews,FairsandFestivals,SunshineArtistMagazine, plus others. None I rate more than a 2 on a 10 scale. Lots of information on attendance, juried, # of stars based on who knows what, and other stuff. Not much on personal recommendations on the past two years from artist/craftsman.
