Hi fellow artist. I just moved from Houston to Lynchburg Virginia.

I have been here for 3 weeks and I am having a hard time finding other artists here.

I contacted many through Facebook, emails sent to some art groups but nobody answered.

In Houston I have such a great group of artist friends. It was easy to find groups, email notifications with call for arts, markets and fairs but here it's only silence.

hugs

Adri

  • The Hampton Roads area is about 4 hours east of you.  There are a ton of show there.  Next up is the Virginia Beach Boardwalk Art Show, June 13-15.  Portsmouth's Seawall Art Show is August 23-24.  September has the Virginia Beach Artisans in the Park on the 6 & 7, the Buckroe Beach Art in the Park on the 13th, the Neptune Festival the end of September, and a couple more shows.  In October, the city of Norfolk is having a Visual Art Week from the 11th to the 19th.  Kickoff will be the Ocean View Art Show, and it will wrap up with the Stockley Gardens Art Show.  Lot's more smaller shows mixed in.

Try to make it down here for one of the weekends!

  • Thank you so much everybody. This is so helpful to me!

I will not be able to go this Saturday because it is my moving day but I will check for future events.

    Thanks

  • This was passed on to me by a friend of mine - there is an art store in Lynchburg called The Art Box.  You may be able to make some contacts there.

Since I am still working full time I do mostly shows in Virginia.  I will be at the Roanoke show this weekend.

    • Where did you see the call for art for the sidewalk art show? is there a place to subscribe to get art calls? In Houston I was subscribed to 2 email newsletters for art calls and it was great.

  • I'm in Williamsburg VA, so not local to you, but... You should drive a little west this Saturday (5/31), to Roanoke (about an hour drive). There is a one day show, The Roanoke Sidewalk Art Show, on the streets near the Taubman Museum. A lot of local artists participate and I wouldn't be surprised if you didn't find artists from around Lynchburg. It would be a good way for you to connect.

  • I'm in Louisa, not exactly close but at least in the same state :-)

    • Hi Alison, thank you for replying :)

this is great. Do you do many shows locally or you travel?
