Excitement builds as the city of Three Rivers eagerly prepares to welcome the newest addition to the creative downtown district. Unibrow Art is proud to present their Grand Opening Extravaganza this Saturday September 15th, 2012 from 6pm-10pm. Fun for the entire family, the gallery will be featuring numerous art pieces from various artists. The showcase will include the playful and whimsical welded art of the late Sonny Dalton from Kalamazoo, MI. Over 100 pieces from his final collection will be proudly displayed for all to enjoy and purchase. Other featured artists include James Jackson, a large scale metal art sculptor also from Kalamazoo, Bob Hunt a life size paper mache artist from Edwardsburg and Three Rivers very own Brian Brook’s found metal sculpture work.
Owner, Jody Cooley could not be more excited for the event. A Chicago native, Cooley is no stranger to art. Not only has she been practicing art from a very early age, but she is also the Executive Director of an after school art program for at-risk kids on Chicago's west side. Since Cooley founded Graffiti Zone in 2006, this program has been providing opportunities for kids to express themselves creatively through art all while promoting business and social skills and encouraging positive thinking. Cooley says she is excited to bring her positive experiences and teaching skills to the Three Rivers community not only for children but for people of all ages who have a desire to learn and get creative! Cooley has big plans for the gallery's Grand Opening to be an inspiring success and will begin teaching art classes this fall.
Unibrow Art Gallery has been under construction for the last two years and has been completely overhauled all in preparation for this grand event. The new modern decor of the main floor boasts soaring ceilings, bright windows, and a cozy fireplace all setting the perfect backdrop for the various art pieces on display. The basement floor features various rooms which will be used for after school programs and art classes. Located at 140 W Michigan, Unibrow Art Gallery shares a backyard with the community's beloved Scidmore Park. With serene views and the calming sounds of the rushing rivers just out the back door, what better place for friends and family to come enjoy art and be inspire. People of all ages are invited to visit the Grand Opening of Unibrow Art Gallery to enjoy complementary drinks, hors d‘oeuvres, and an area favorite DJ Bobbo providing music and entertainment.
