Call for Artists, Making Money at Juried Art Fairs, Craft Shows and Festivals
These are one-day (Saturday) shows near the von Liebig Museum, which runs them.
Jury results were just released for the museum's Mercato show and I wasn't accepted...so I have to fill the date either with this downtown-Naples event or apply to Howard Alan's Venice show.
Has anyone ever done one of the "Art in the Park" events?

Do you know anything about the Downtown Sarasota Holiday Art & Craft Show at Five Points Park - Main & Pineapple Street this weekend in Sarasota?
Permalink Reply by Ruth Jellema on December 15, 2011 at 8:19pm Have you considered Howard Alan's Las Olas II?

Permalink Reply by Kathleen Taylor on February 27, 2012 at 2:31pm Hi Geoff, I just joined Art Fair Insiders, so I'm sure you've decided what to do by now, but for future reference, I thought I'd chime in. I work for the Naples Art Association, which operates The von Liebig Art Center and runs the Art in the Park festivals. It's my first year here, so I can't speak from my personal experience, but I'm told the March Art in the Park is a pretty well attended one, though with fewer artists than is typical of other months of AITP. The first-Saturday shows are well-known by the local crowd and visitors to downtown Naples stumble upon it regularly. We advertise in the Naples Daily News showcase and on WGCU public television, social media and email marketing, as well as weekly and monthly publications. Both AITP and Mercato shows are run by Naples Art Association, but the two don't compete much, given the geographical difference (downtown vs North Naples). Artists must be members of the Association to participate in AITP.

Thanks, and welcome! Great to have members from the NAA! (And hope that the Naples National went well!)
You're right, I have booked the Venice show, but what could you tell me about the April AATP?
Permalink Reply by Kathleen Taylor on February 28, 2012 at 8:34am It is somewhat of a shoulder season show, priced accordingly. November and April have mirrored a bit in the past, with slightly smaller crowds and fewer artists. November was particularly good this season in attendance and anecdotal reports from artists. We advertise the same for it as with other AITP shows, and because most of the big shows are finished by then, there's less competition for audience attention. In the interest of full disclosure, April's show falls on Easter weekend this year. Good news is the winter visitors are still here, bad news is that they may have other plans. It depends on your history with Easter weekend shows in Florida. As I mentioned, the booth fee is not as high as the prime season months of January, February and March.

Thanks for the update, Kathleen!
