Call for Artists, Making Money at Juried Art Fairs, Craft Shows and Festivals
Does anyone know about this show or its promoter. This show is in Lexington, KY in November but I noticed that the promoter also does a show in Wilmington, NC and St Augustine, Fla. My sister lives in Lexington and has never heard of the show which concerns me. This is an inside show at the convention center. Thanks
Permalink Reply by Robert M. Wallis on February 11, 2012 at 11:38am The Lexington show is in the convention center where Rupp Arena is. I was thinking about applying for it myself. I let the deadline slip last year. The price is fairly reasonable. I'll do some more research and see what I can find.
Permalink Reply by Michelle Wermuth on February 11, 2012 at 12:23pm I think it is new. I asked around last year if anyone had done it and got no response. SO it would be nice if someone who had done it would speak up.

Permalink Reply by Diane Wright on February 11, 2012 at 1:52pm I applied but I also applied to another show the same weekend.
Permalink Reply by Connie Mettler on February 11, 2012 at 2:16pm Actually I do know a little about this show as I've been talking with the promoter this week and will be doing a call for artists soon. Her name is Lynn Wettach, she lives in St. Augustine and has four shows: March 31-April 1 in St. Augustine; Lexington, KY, November 17-18; Wilmington, NC, November 24-25; St. Augustine, December 29-30. She has been great to deal with and enthused about making these shows work. It looks like she has a good publicity campaign in place and this show is sponsored by WKYT - always a good sign. There is a FB page and it looks like the show did take place last year, from the postings there.
The website is www.HolidayArtShows.com.
Permalink Reply by Kathryn Riechert on February 22, 2012 at 10:28am I did one of her show's in 2010. It was in Athens, GA in Nov, and was not good...nobody came. The show was well run, everything seemed to be in place except for people. Unfortunately I've heard the same things about some of her other shows, which is sad because I do like Lynn and believes she works hard.
It might be worth trying if you don't have anything else at the time and don't have too much in the way of expenses.
Permalink Reply by Robert M. Wallis on February 22, 2012 at 12:54pm I won't have anything else going at the time, but it will be a 3 hour drive and lodging. There should be hotel rooms available for about $70/night in the area. Maybe there will be a football or basketball game in town that weekend and it'll be a break even thing then ;-)
I have not been in either of these shows, due to the distance and time of year. However, I have heard from several artists that they are great shows and so is the promoter. I am hoping to be able to do them in the future.
