It just keeps getting better.  Glynn Art in the Park on St. Simons Island, Ga - held October 7, 8, and 9 was remarkable.  The newly remodeled park was beautiful.  The design of the park, the accessible power and water, exhibit area constructed of clean, dry and level pavers, the shade of the magnificent live oaks the convenient parking all made for a great venue.  Friday was easy set-up between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.  Judging was from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.   The preview party and artist reception was delightful with local restaurants and sponsors providing delectable heavy hors d'oeuvres.  Despite threats of rain and wind Saturday turned out to be beautiful.  Traffic was steady and at times bustling.  I sold close to $1000 within the first half hour of the show.  Overall sales and profits beat my all time high at Jekyll Wild Shrimp and Grits just three weeks previous.  My neighbors, Cary and Barry Knapp, who have been participants of Glynn Art in the Park for many years said sales were as good or a little better than previous years.    The rain came in Saturday night and continued on and off all day Sunday.  The traffic was light on Sunday but still steady.  As we broke down and packed up our wet canopy and tried to keep my photography dry I envied my neighbor Alan who had plants and bonsai for sale.  This was a great weekend, well organized, with charming hosts, beautiful setting and supportive patrons.

  • Thanks for the nice report.  It is always good to hear about good shows nowadays.  Thanks, too, for posting some photos with your report.  I've never heard of that show before.  The venue sounds really nice.
