First show ever

I did a holiday arts/crafts show just before I went back to college. Mostly my work was done in paper crafts. I did not sell a single item. People liked my work but were not interested in buying. It was the very first year after the market crashed and people were just not spending money on art. At that show, the only people who made sales were in jewelry & glass wares. I learned a LOT, but it was disheartening.

What are the best things about art fairs

Networking. Meeting new people, communing with other artists, getting myself & my work out there in the community to generate new clientele. Learning & growing and of course, making an income from my artwork.

Best show ever and why

My very first show at the Toledo Artwalks in July of 2012. I made some sales, but mostly what I got from the experience was what I learned, i.e. I really do have some artistic talent. I generated a few very good clients but the best thing was that I was invited to place my work into a couple of local galleries. I met several other emerging artists and have begun to really network myself, learned HOW to set up a great display and I am a lot less terrified to get out there than I was after my first show experience years ago.
