What are the best things about art fairs

Interacting with the people who buy your art

Best show ever and why

Plaza Art Fair. Beautiful setting, awesome people (both the show organizers and the patrons), great sales.

Worst show ever and why

Art show in Dallas organized by 500 inc. Held at the Cotton Bowl. It was sweltering hot, and very few patrons attended. When I went to the "Artist's Hospitality" area to find the restroom and see if there was any water (in a large air-conditioned building) I asked where the restrooms were. "Outside and to the left, there are portable restrooms" I looked past her, beyond a roped off area crowded with people loading their plates with all kinds of home made food and ice chests filled with soft drinks to a bank of restrooms. I asked her"what about those?" she told me that they were for the volunteers only. I then asked her well, could I get one of those cold drinks? Again, she pointed to an area over my shoulder "The artist food is over there, this is for volunteers only" I turned around to see a table with a giant "Sam's" sized peanut butter jar with a knife in it, and a few slices of white bread to the side. And a water jug with a few dixie cups. Meanwhile, behind the roped off area, the volunteers were feasting on all kinds of food and drinks. I promptly removed the rope, brushed past her, and used the restroom inside. What a bunch of jerks. Never again.
