What are the best things about art fairs
Contact with other artists and people who attend art fairs, they're a special sort! The festive atmosphere, entertainers, the whole experience. I've been doing this since 1985 and it never gets old. I look forward to my next show with the same excitement as I did in the beginning. Guess I found my niche.
Best show ever and why
It's hard to say; each show is unique and great in it's own way. I like good sales, of course. One of the wildest shows was the NorthHaltsed Marketdays in Chicago. Some shows have beautiful surroundings and are very good, like Holy Hill in Hubertus, WI. I can't say I really have a favorite.
Worst show ever and why
I tend to forget those. The worst experience had to do with weather. At Pullman in Chicago it was 105 degrees, strong winds blew down the potter's display next to me. It destroyed everything he had. Everyone packed up and left. But it wasn't the show organizers fault, Oz Park was a crummy show. I'm a jeweler, and they put me next to a guy with a double booth of terrible pewter trinkets, obviously imported, and he stood in front of his booth like a side show barker, yelling "Everything half price!" During the night a park worker hit my tent and tore a big hole in the fabric.
