What are the best things about art fairs
Opportunity to meet people and sell my artwork. Making friends, business connections, and attracting commissions.
Best show ever and why
Celebration in the Oaks at City Park, New Orleans, December 2005. Locals were coming home after the levee failure during hurricane Katrina had flooded the city. They were starting to rebuild and decorate their homes, and had lots of insurance money to spend. The artists/craftspeople who were there still remember this "golden season" fondly.
Worst show ever and why
Various shows, terrible sales due to one or all of these factors: A. Lack of advertising, or forgot to mention the Artists Village at the festival. B. Event was saturated with flea market/buy sell vendors, which cheapened the quality of the market and the shoppers' attitude. C. Weather --- monsoon-like conditions wiped us out, destroyed tents, and I almost lost my entire body of work.
