What are the best things about art fairs

The interaction with clients and the positive feedback from customers and other artists alike.

Best show ever and why

Ravenswood Art Walk in Chicago. It's a very open and accessible show. Artists from all disciplines and skill levels are allowed to show work, providing there's space. It's a great show to start off at because you get so much feedback from other artists and I learned so much. I made the most sales at that show the first time I did it and now, 13 years later, it's still consistently one of my best shows.

Worst show ever and why

Logan Boulevard Art Fest in Chicago. No one showed up and the promoter had no buy in from the local arts organizations. They claimed the show draws 30,000 participants and if there were 300 over the weekend, I'd be surprised. I packed my stuff out on Saturday evening and didn't go back on Sunday and I'm glad I didn't because it poured. I wrote a letter to the show promoter and explained what I thought were the problems. I asked for a credit toward another show the following year and he actually gave it to me.

Who referred you to ArtFairInsiders.com? Please be specific.

Hmmm, I think I found it on a web search for an art fair calendar posting.
