What are the best things about art fairs

Getting to go places one would not necessarily go to otherwise; sometimes it is a pleasant surprise.

Best show ever and why

1990 Columbus (Ohio) Arts Festival-big crowds who wanted to buy. Even though lots come for the food and entertainment, the sheer numbers assured the sales.

Worst show ever and why

Several come to mind-a leader being "Chautauqua of the Arts" after it moved to Columbus Indiana from Madison IN in 1994. Despite the beautiful park that could have easily held 50 to 100 thousand visitors, we were lucky if 5000 came. I did it the following year thinking it would get better after the first year-it was worse! What little crowd attended walked around looking as if they had never seen a decent art festival before. To sum up, Columbus IN has great architecture, but is a "Cultural Sinkhole". When you've done shows as long as I have, I've seen several of these!

Who referred you to ArtFairInsiders.com? Please be specific.

I got it after a major show a few years ago, I assume AFI must use shows contact lists.

What is one fun fact about yourself?

I believe the most important part of the newspaper is the comics.
