What are the best things about art fairs

Seeing people from all over, talking with other artists, visiting with customers who are excited to see your work.

Best show ever and why

Frankfort Fall Festival, Labor Day Weekend 2011. It was my first big show and I got in the first time I applied, so I was excited. The weather was good, there was good response to my work and I got some orders in addition to sales.

Worst show ever and why

Bridal Expo at Georgios in Orland Park, IL. November 2011. The brides are herded through like cattle, and for $895 I would expect a little bit more attention, but they're in such a rush to get a seat for the fashion show, for which there are DISGRACEFULLY few seats, it's unfair to the vendors. And the show closes within an hour of the end of the fashion show, so there's no time then, either.

What is one fun fact about yourself?

I'm a Gemini and my day job is VERY uncreative. My dad gave me a typewriter and a sewing machine for Christmas one year and I now use BOTH. I do medical transcription (typing) by day and bridal accessories by night. I designed costumes for our theatre group in our area for 10 years. My biggest accomplishment was overseeing 10 seamstresses for the first community theatre production of Disney's Beauty and the Beast. I oversaw 179 costumes, designed 35 of them and sewed 15 myself including Belle's ballgown which had 14,000 sequins and 1,400 HAND PUNCHED Swarovski rhinestones. Gorgeous!
