What are the best things about art fairs

Being able to talk to people about my work, the look on their faces when they find a piece they love. Meeting and networking with other artists. And of course the chance to make money doing something I love!!

Best show ever and why

Ann Arbor 2013, the Guild show. Miserable weather, but great customers and great artists to talk to, and my highest income show to date!

Worst show ever and why

Many years ago when I was just starting, I did an art fair attached to an Oktoberfest/beer festival- the promoter was wonderful and the show was supposed to have a large number of people through the gate so I decided to give it a shot. No drunk people vomited on my work thank goodness, though it was a close thing. I kept hearing people complaining about how expensive my work was throughout the whole 3.5 day show.. at 25-35 for an original piece that took me 8+ hours to cut!! On the plus side, this show is what encouraged me to skip shows where art is not the primary focus and stick with juried fine art shows instead. :)
