Ryan Rabbass replied to Jim Dalton's discussion What's the worst question you have been asked at an art fair?
"you're right, some of them might just be saying so even though they assume or know it's me. that is a good point, I need to get a photo up for sure! I actually plan to put my time lapse painting videos on an iPad looping, I think that…"

Ryan Rabbass replied to Jim Dalton's discussion What's the worst question you have been asked at an art fair?
"Not the worst, but a consistent annoyance: I get the "did you make this" or "are you the artist" at least 10x per show. It's always surprising. I guess a lot of the public think that art shows are more trade shows and we are…"

"I didn't melt the lead. It is 50 lbs of buckshot in each piece of pvc. 17" tall with a screw on top. The dumbbells are also 50 lbs (about 12" tall) and all I did was tap a 1/4" thread for an eyebolt and paint them"

Greg Little replied to Ryan Rabbass's discussion How to make good tent weights?
"I have two different sets of tent weights. The PVC is lead filled and weights 50+ lbs at 17" tall. The dumbells are shorter but weigh 50 lbs. Both are easy to carry and transport. Most of the time i just use one set since 50 lbs per leg is…"

What are the best things about art fairs
When people love your art, they buy full price. They're happy, you're happy. Everyone walks away with a smile on their face. Also, just hanging out at nice shows, nice weather in nature with other artist friends.
Best show ever and why
St George Fine Arts Festival - I got a lot of comments that my work was different than what was around there, so I sold double what I've ever sold anywhere else. Also easy and close to my hometown.
Worst show ever and why
Hard to say, any show that I have to drive 4+ hours each way and barely cut a profit. Sometimes not in the best parts of town.

Pro Panels
What is one fun fact about yourself?
I am an artist who does a good amount of shows yearly, but I also have multiple other businesses where I work on the computer. The shows are a nice way to get off the computer!
