What are the best things about art fairs
Selling my art. Meeting great people. Seeing other artist's work. Traveling and seeing other communities.
Best show ever and why
Fayetteville Festival of the Arts, GA - the best net profit, greatest folks who put on the event, huge support from the community, excellent load in/out, accommodations and great downtown restaurant/bar.
Worst show ever and why
Shelter Cove, Hilton Head. Howard Alan show. Only saw one sign on the entire island, No check-in, information, reception by anyone. Poorly laid out. Two classes - have and have not - those that had shade and said they sold and the rest of us on uneven stone site in the blistering sun. Even though there were unoccupied shady areas. No visits by organizers. The person in the booth next to us said she got a free tent to "host", but she was really not approachable and her mother in the rear of the tent was very rude. Parking was a mile away. Lesson learned - don't go there again.

Christmas Made in the South - Concord, NC October 25-27-2013

Posted on October 29, 2013 at 6:57pm 0 Comments

Another year, another tour of shows by Carolina Shows, Inc.  This year we signed up for all seven Christmas Made In The South shows plus their Springtime in the South last February = eight.  Why?  #1) Because the Hunts take care of their exhibitors like they are family.  #2) They do a great job of promoting the shows and bringing in the buying crowd.  #3) They have a long standing excellent reputation.  #4) The…

Bluffton (SC) Arts & Seafood Festival - October 19-20, 2013

Posted on October 23, 2013 at 10:30pm 4 Comments

Before I even get in to the festival I just have to say the Bluffton Seafood House has the most amazing best tasting She Crab Soup and Seafood Gumbo I have EVER in my life had.  We also had their Po'Boy Shrimp Salad with real whole shrimp and Grilled Shrimp Po'Boy.  After eating at BSH the first night we could not resist.  We went back there the second night.  I had Tina's Seafood Pasta - to die for. And then had lunch there on Sunday.  I'm missing their good food already.

So…

Glynn Art in the Park - St Simons Island GA October 12-13, 2013

Posted on October 15, 2013 at 11:34am 10 Comments

I just came back from Glynn Art in the Park.  This was my 4th year.  I look forward to doing this show every year.  The venue is beautiful.  Set up and take down is super easy.  The folks who run it are the type of people you would love to have as your neighbor.  The reception is first class.  The quality of the art is top notch.  No junk here.  I always come out in the black.  And to make matters even better --- I took 2nd place in 2D this year.  Yeah for me!  And thank you Glynn Art…

Oktoberfest Savannah Riverstreet - October 4-6, 2013

Posted on October 8, 2013 at 2:54pm 0 Comments

This is our second year at Savannah Riverstreet's Oktoberfest.  The weather was a little warm but with the help of our fan was bearable.  The set up was easy enough.  Parking not too far from the venue.  Tons of people.  The party part of Oktoberfest is in one area of the riverfront with beer and brats, (and other carnival food) umpah music and all the wonderful shops of Savannah Riverstreet just steps away.  The artists/crafters are just next door to the food/beverage area.  A good set up…
