Kaytee Sumida replied to Kathleen V. Smith's discussion Does anyone else have this problem?!!!
"I've had the problem at trade shows-- local/in my "home town", but vendors coming from other cities, states, and even other countries. This means my credit card seems to be in use in several widely separated places within a short…"

Kaytee Sumida replied to Kelly Meska's discussion Buy and sell
"I agree with Cindy Welch. Since the items were not bought ready-made like that, it would probably be considered "assemblage", unless s/he was making the mats. And it sounds like s/he did some work/showed originality in it-- not just adding…"

Kaytee Sumida replied to Connie Mettler's discussion Please Help: Do you know of any volunteer run shows?
"Take a look at science-fiction convention art shows-- many are all volunteer staffed. Not exactly "main stream", but Comic Con International, and its Art Show, have been in existence for 49 years. The executive board is now paid, and…"

Kaytee Sumida replied to Mark Zirinsky's discussion to post/not to post copyright notices in booth

Kaytee Sumida replied to Allan Leon's discussion To price-label or not question
"Yep. It happens-- as I said above, I've witnessed it.  Per Larry Sohn's advice re: having a database printout-- that's better than just an "unsupported" price quote, but it would be even better yet if that db was posted…"

Kaytee Sumida replied to Allan Leon's discussion To price-label or not question
"If there are no prices on pieces, I get the impression that the seller will "give" a price in response to an inquiry based on what s/he thinks the person asking will pay. I've seen/heard that at trade shows... and low end…"

What is your website?
What are the best things about art fairs
meeting people who love handcrafts-- both makers and buyers.
Best show ever and why
Comic Con art shows-- don't have to "sit" at a booth... set up is for 4 days, with sales/paperwork/security covered by the staff, the crowd (and staff) is fun, and I've never had anything "evaporate" at those shows (which has happened at every other venue I've tried).
Worst show ever and why
the one at a local school-- i went to their "preview for the news" session-- had a ring stolen by one of the kids pulled to "look like shoppers". Then, what was SUPPOSED to be "local handcrafts" (per the application), was over half buy-sell/MLM vendors. Hard to compete with "everything $5" jewelry and $10 t-shirts. Sold nothing, and was out the time, application fee, and the stolen ring.
Who referred you to Please be specific.
I've been on the email list for a long time-- not sure how I found out about it originally.
What is one fun fact about yourself?
?? Probably depends on what you consider "fun"....
