My wife and I have been juried into TWO categories and have TWO booths this weekend, March 15-17, at Winter Park Sidewalk Art Festival and need to rent some extra Pro Panels for our second booth. A…Continue

I'm wondering about this Redmond show that accepts only 70 artists, er, uh, 70 curated designers, artists, and craftspeople? Anyone have news about it? I love the idea of a show that size, and it's…Continue

Everyone familiar with me knows that I'm a picture frame designer, maker, carver, and gilder who makes frames exclusively for his wife's artworks. During 1999 I began studying picture frame history and soon discovered gilding in all its glory. I was lucky enough to have a friend who gave me the first 10 years of Picture Framing Magazine (1990-1999) wherein I discovered a treasure trove about frames, frame making, gilding, and the industry.
In 2004, I received a professional…

I did this show that happens Thanksgiving weekend many years ago, but quit it and a few others before it so that I could be home in Wyoming for Thanksgiving. Seeing the list of winners makes me wish I could still travel to Florida for two reasons: I see a lot of friends and a gobs of prize money! I haven't yet heard about sales, how the change of venue is progressing, and how the other show not too very far away on the same weekend …

Greg might be unaware of his fame today, but I was just visiting the Collectors of Wood Art website HERE HERE HERE and discovered he's the featured artist on their home page. I don't know how often that feature changes, but it doesn't really matter all that much. What does matter is that Greg is a member of Collectors of Wood Art and that his work is being featured.
I'm a fan of that site and organization anyway and…

MANDARIN ART FESTIVAL is a small show located in an affluent Jacksonville, Florida neighborhood, and it may be one of Florida's best kept secrets. This year 90 artists will exhibit on the grounds of MANDARIN COMMUNITY CLUB, which is the historical Freedom School site built by Harriet Beecher Stowe in 1872. The St. Johns River can be seen behind the homes…
ContinueHi Barry,
I'm probably not going to do any shows this year. I'm dealing with health problems that prevent me from doing much traveling. I did just receive an invite to "Art on the Levee" in Ft. Benton, MT. It's really a nice show in conjuntion with their Fort Benton Days celebration - parade, rodeo, etc. The setting is in a nice park and show organizers were excellent and the crowds were motivated buyers.

In 2015 booth cost $75.00 for 3 days (last week of June). You can select your booth on the application form. Booths are 15 x 10'-15'. Most booths are under large shade trees but it can get breezy. Set up is real easy with artist parking close by.
Thank you, Barrie!
Thanks Barrie, It's a pleasure to be your friend and I truly hope to meet both you and your wife on the road at some point. Most of my shows are not too far afield from my home in north/central PA. It sounds like the south/east USA is your best market and this was alway inexplicably one of my worst. Probably my restrained overall style of art, no matter the medium, is responsible. I used to describe my sculpture booth presentation as the "booth that looks like nothing is in it". It's THAT restrained and this impulse is always carried through anything I do as an artist,...or anything else for that matter.
Nice meeting you Barrie. Thanks for telling me about the no Y. I so enjoyed looking at the booth photos. I'd love to get feedback about my booth. I'll have to figure out how to upload a photo here. Thanks again, Joan
