What is your website?
What are the best things about art fairs
Meeting potential clients and being able to show my wares and having them appreciated. Meeting and chatting with other exhibitors.
Best show ever and why
Merriwa Show - it had been by third year of exhibiting at this show. I had built a good clientele and there was an energy of people wanting to see my work and to own a piece of my jewellery. There had been rain (important in my rural area and predmoninately rural client) and people were looking forward to "a good year". I was busy from open to close for the whole show.
Worst show ever and why
Leadville Christmas Market - wrong demographic, wrong 'message' being sent out to attendees. I knew it, I just couldn't say no (but I've got better at that now!)

Annette, wire wrapping for me doesn't take patience, I call it my therapy.  It is really easy to do.  if you are ever interested in learning,  let me know and I can connect you with some sites for tutorials.

As you are getting started in wire the best place to purchase practice wire is from  They offer square and 1/2 round wire - it is a coated copper wire and you can get 25 ft for $6.60 - they do require a $25 minim order. It is a deadsoft wire and is easy to work with.  You can go to and obtain some free  or low cost tutorials.   The ring you referenced is one I found in a magazine that is out of print now, but you can purchase most of the back issues and the ring tutorial from and  both of these sites are ran by the individuals that original put out the Wire Artist Jeweller Magazine.  You will pirated copies of a lot of the tutorials in these magazines.  I would recommend buying them from Helen or Susan.

Also, another tool that will aid you in wrapping cabs is a gem bead board.  A friend (that I have met online) who lives in San Diego, makes this awesome board with guides to help you shape the bundles around oval, square,  bracelets, etc.   You can see them at  She has  a graph that will hep you get the bindings equally placed for the different sizes of cabs. I bought one of her prototypes and love it.  It really helped me when I started out with wire.

Hopefully I haven't overwhelmed you with information.  You can e-mail me at with any questions and I get back with you with more information.

Have fun - but beware, wire is addictive.

btw  another place to check out is Coiffure's Community at:

Pam has set up a great place with a bunch of warm and friendly  people to give advice and help out.

Glad to help - talk to you soon.

An Aussie show with an organiser who MUST have read AFI

Posted on May 14, 2014 at 7:27pm 8 Comments

Hi all, been busy, busy, busy here downunder with my autumn shows - as a rule they've been nothing spectacular either in organisation or sales... but last weekend a regular annual one day show had a new co-ordinator and I'm sure she had been reading AFI ... it was just so.... ORGANISED!

The event was a one day show run by a private school about 2 hours drive from me.   It has been slowly dropping off in sales over the years - last year there was an explosion in the number of…

Hello everyone!  Token Aussie reporting in to wish you all Happy Holidays!

I know I haven't been around much the last 6 months, far too much on and happening both with making jewellery, shows and the farm ... its upset my online routine!!   I do try and keep a vague notion of what's been going on here though :)

I haven't even posted that I met the gorgeous Kathleen Clausen and her entertaining hubby, Mark, on their recent visit to Australia!   We spent the day together in…

Are you a secret weapon in your customer's aim to be better than their friends?

Posted on July 30, 2012 at 3:26am 11 Comments

I know it sounds odd, but for many of my customers I seem to have become their “secret weapon” in 'keeping up with the Jones’ ' scenarios.   I’m  specifically referring to well to do, more mature ladies (i.e more grown up children) who “do lunch” with their friends, attend fundraisers, love to shop and so on.

They have usually found me online (by chance!) or at a show and live at least a couple of hours drive away (my local customers are more than happy to spread the word).    They…

Wrap up on my last two shows for Autumn (Fall), Downunder

Posted on May 13, 2012 at 9:30pm 8 Comments

I just completed another 2 shows which wraps up my autumn (fall) season.   I usually go into winter hiatus now working and start shows again in spring.   My first was a private school annual fair.  The area is semi rural to rural, lots of horsey people (as in, into horses), horse studs and coal mines nearby where the workers gets paid extremely well so generally a well to do area.  The women are traditional with a little fashion thrown in.…
