Park Forest 2021September 18 & 19
Park Forest, Illinois
Presented by Tall Grass Arts Association

On Village Green and along Main Street
Saturday & Sunday 10am-5pm
80 Artists
Deadline: May 7

Application fee: $35   Booth fee: $175

The Park Forest Art Fair is the second oldest continuously juried fine art fair in the Chicagoland region. It is an exceptionally artist-friendly fair with helpers to assist with loading and reloading, and distribution of bottled water all day. There are prizes totaling $3,000.

Park Forest boothBecause Tall Grass is a not-for-profit and gets to know its artists well, it is sensitive to the impact of the costs of participating in an art fair. For that reason, it has kept its registration fee at $175 through the recession and beyond. Tall Grass feels it is especially important to keep the cost of the art fair registration low during the present economic environment. The Board of Tall Grass provides the art fair artists a continental breakfast on Saturday and Sunday and a wonderful dinner on Saturday evening during which prize winners are announced. Two years ago, the Board also provided a healthy snack on Saturday since many artists could not take the time to visit the food vendors.

Park Forest MasonTestimonials

"I had the pleasure to be an artist at the Park Forest Art Fair put on by the wonderful volunteers of the Tall Grass Arts Association. This show was a artists' dream. The volunteers take such good care of the artists, from making sure we had water all day long and booth sitters for bathroom breaks. On top of that we had bagels, juice, coffee and yogurt both mornings and to top it off the volunteers put on a wonderful dinner Saturday night.
But I have to say the thing that impressed me the most is this show runs like a well-oiled machine and it's all done with volunteers and donations, not some big promoter.
In closing I have to give this art fair a A+ and I would recommend it to anyone that likes being treated like a guest. I also have to thank the people from Park Forest and surrounding areas for coming out to see the show."       Janet Hubbard, Oak Creek, WI

"Thank you for your many, many, many efforts. It really is a wonderful show. I've done plenty of shows in the city and affluent north suburbs but none of them can compare to the ease, loyalty and support that the Park Forest Art Fair offers. I have always said it feels like coming home."       Jennifer Meyer, Lansing, ILPottery Boys

"We were so happy with our sales this year, we were practically giddy! Having a great show at Park Forest really made our summer!! Thank you for all you do!" The Pottery Boys, Blue Island, IL

The booth walls will be provided to the invited artists.

Marketing:
  • will be provided by The Buzz Agency, a premier PR firm in Florida, as well as by the three designated charities/nonprofits.
  • Well-known community leaders and artists will be participating at this event, lending their marketing support and huge following, including a nationally known artist who has over 2 million followers who will promote and share this event with all of them.
The event is presented by Ingrid Robinson, an artist with a successful entrepreneurial business background who created Artists and Charities Hand In Hand one year ago as a legacy in memory of her only child. Since then she has hosted several successful art shows where thousands of dollars in art sales were donated to different charities.

Mission:
It's our mission to provide artists access to high-end buyers while accelerating fund raising for local charities in a first-class venue.

Plan:
47130a4b-8bb7-407d-8770-4fb751f661f3.png Her idea is a very simple one, but it grabbed hold of artists, charities and community and became a brilliant way of creating a "coming together" which resulted in new ideas and venues for artists to show their work and for non-profits/charities to be more interactive with the community to help raise money for their causes by being supportive of artists and their art. Since her business model proved to be a success on a smaller scale, she decided it was time to take the art show to "prime time."

Learn more the event and Ingrid at the artistsandcharities.com website. You will find a very determined woman who has had several successful achievements to her name, including uncovering one of the largest financial frauds in U.S history.

The show is held in beautiful Palmer Park and is adjacent to some of the city's best neighborhoods.  Residents are professionals with huge homes and great disposable income.  Our experience is the shoppers like more traditional images, and afro-centric work also does well. Don't be afraid to bring larger work as many people have substantial historic homes.

The show winds around a pond and runs adjacent to the historic log cabin.  Artists are encouraged to get out of the tent and create installations that enhance their work and interact with the natural beauty of the park.

The "entertainment" is art projects and artist demonstrations. Patrons are invited to get their hands dirty.  All of this helps to contribute to appreciation and sales.

Why you should be here:
  • Limited to 65 artists
  • Significant paid advertising and news coverage
  • Easy drive up unloading
  • Experienced artists friendly organization
  • Free parking and RV parking

Face the Truth - There are no Shortcuts!

Ahhh, you just keep working and working and what do you get? Most people in this business know the long hours and the creative flow necessary for success in this business. My most recent favorite book is Malcolm Gladwell's The Outliers. It is a very thought provoking book, full of interesting statistics including - the 10,000 Hour Rule. In order to be really good at something a person must put in at least 10,000 hours working at it. I believe you will find some good food for thought in member Jeane Vogel's recent blog posting: No Shortcuts to the Artist's Life There were no fewer than two dozen young people -- under 30 -- who walked into my studio on Saturday and wanted a job, wanted an internship, wanted to know the secret of success, wanted to know why they couldn't sell their art, wanted to know --- well, you get the idea…. http://jeanevogel.blogspot.com/2009/01/no-shortcuts-to-artists-life.html

This year, the art fair plans to include a sidewalk art event. For families and children, the event will be pure fun and not competitive but there will be a competitive element for professional artists. Inasmuch as 2024 marks the 75th anniversary of the incorporation of the Village of Park Forest, there will be a commemorative element to the fair. It is currently in the planning stages.

Testimonials:

To all the wonderful people who worked so hard to put together such a great art fair; I have always thought that you, at Tall Grass, accommodate the vendors most thoughtfully. Tall Grass art fair is a wonderful experience for participating artists, art aficionados and the Park Forest community.
Sue Wade, jewelry artist

The Park Forest Art Fair was simply amazing. I have never experienced an art fair such as this before. The attention and support given to the artists made one feel like royalty. I enjoyed the breakfast and was more than grateful for the spread that was laid before us for dinner. The award ceremony left me speechless. I have never experienced that level of appreciation for vendors at an Art Fair before. Wow!!! Is all I can say.
Tara McGee, Bayete Jewelry Collection LLC

11001963262?profile=RESIZE_400xThis Tall Grass Art Fair was at its best for a number of reasons. First of all, the weather was great! Secondly, art lovers found so much to love. Third, Tall Grass did an amazing job. Last, but not least, I made plenty of sales. Thank you, Tall Grass Arts Association.
Patricia Stewart

This was a great fair with enthusiastic shoppers and talented artists.
Don Widmer, Paper artist

This longstanding art fair is small but extremely well run and always quality and diverse art. This year, sales exceeded all my previous shows, even with moderate crowds. I recommend this venue.
