Your booth was perfect in that setting, Alison. Great to see you.

I am considering applying for this show.  I just got an email about it and am curious since it is such a high booth fee.  As for most of us that $2500 is a scary number to think about.  Any feedback I can get would be wonderful

Been doing this show almost from the start and I'm never disappointed. It is worth trying at least once.  The exposure u get is fantastic. I've had sales from this show continually all year.

Allison... I make jewelry so I know there will be a ton there from what I've been able to find out.  I am not afraid of the competition, but mine isn't gold/silver. It is definitely art jewelry done with copper/brass/steel enamels, stones and glass beads.  Highest fees I've paid to date are $1000 so that is a big jump in fees.

My first show this year is over a 10 day time frame.. Sat/Sun then Mon Tues off and then Wed-Sunday.  Since it is near my home I sleep in my own bed and can make stock if necessary.  Funny thing is it is a home and garden show and I do really well because women buy jewelry!  LOL

I was aware of this show, but I am trying to do my research before I apply.  Looked at the Zapplication.. and I am going to ask you a question about the booth shot.. I looked at some pictures of the booths at the show and the jury shot I am using looks nothing like that.. I have a shot for "art" shows that is relatively plain but representative of my booth outdoors.  I could create and indoor booth like the one I'll be using at the upcoming event.  Any tips you can offer would be welcome

Yes jewelry is a tough category but I do know the jewelers that sell there do well.  Not sure about the booth shot. Don't think that's a big deal since every artist does have their own walls, etc.  I live in Naperville which is a good 45 min drive. I used to stay down at the Mart when I did this show BUT the city has changed alot with the new mayor and prices have really sky rocketed. If you decide to try it, definitely do Priceless or one like it and possibly SpotHero if you need it.  I saved a ton that way. Oh and the last time I stayed at the Mart Holiday Inn, there was a bed bug (yep) crawling on the bed across from mine. They wouldn't comp my stay cuz they found no other bugs. Yah right. One rouge bed bug doesn't happen!  Wouldn't stay there again if they gave me a free room!  Doing any show I guess is a big gamble in general so weigh your pros and cons.  This show is expensive yes, but the advertising is unreal, the atmosphere way fun and they get ALOT of customers thru.  Load in and out is not bad at all.  There is also an Etsy section. If you have an Etsy store, maybe ck that out too!

I've done this show for 16 years. Stayed at the Mart Holiday Inn for all of them.  Never had bed bugs.

Me too Dinah.  Makes that even more of a surprise.  When I saw it I was hoping it was a ladybug.  No such luck. I have no idea why it was there but trust me, it was.
