  • Thanks for continuing to do these helpful podcasts/zoom sessions.  I'd like to see more information about using Instagram -- a lot of artists are using this to sell their work and connect with new/current customers.  Thanks!

  • I try to listen to this podcast live but for some reason, I can never be able to do it because my phone does want work with the link. It was good information. I wish you did one in marketing.

  • Oh, Patty! So cool ... great job! You should be proud.

  • It should not. Google should find you, especially if the incoming links go directly to your home page domain name, because that is how google finds you. Lots of qualifiers though.

  • I've really enjoyed learning about website building and SEO from your podcasts, and I am proud to announce that I now have a website up and running!! It's all thanks to you, Connie, that I conquered my tech fears and my photography fears and did it. www.threefriendsonebrain.com

    Hooray!

  • Hi,  will the google ranking change if I move my domain name from the current company to, let’s say, Go Daddy?

  • I will have to listen later. I can probably learn plenty from hearing just what gets answered that has already been asked. Thanks a million, Connie and Scott, for doing this!

  • Thanks for these questions. Scott will address them on the podcast. Keep them coming!

  • Several questions....
    1. I have a custom site that was developed 8 years ago on the OScommerce platform. There’s so much Shopify out there now but I am not switching. Is SEO different based on the platform?
    2. I have read that image file names should be more than my product code..ie..SWFE-S2 earring. Should it be more descriptive?
    3. If I want to start examining my SEO, what should I concentrate on first...content (product descriptions), keywords, image names, something I haven’t even thought of.
    4. What are your thoughts on services that generate product descriptions? I realize that tweaking is necessary. I make jewelry.
    5. If I want to educate myself more on SEO, what should I be reading? Webinar, podcast, book etc.
  • This is great. I took an SEO course recently and was able to increase my traffic. I did it myself - it's not really too difficult, but I'm fairly web savvy & resourceful.

Donna had a great question. I would say you will probably want to hold onto your domain name and recreate as many of your pages as possible on the new Shopify platform - especially your best performing pages.

Weird domain suffixes aren't going to hurt you from an SEO standpoint. But your customers may have more trouble remembering one of those.
