Fountain Hills 2020

I did not attend the show but am wondering how it was. If anyone out there did the Fountain Hills show in AZ this past weekend, would you please post some info on how it was, especially during COVID.

  • I did the show at FH.  First time.  We had hoped to link Scotsdale for two events, but it cancelled.  We already paid for a double booth so it would have been painful to walk away.

I was told by others the crowd was about 1/3 of normal.

The enforcement of covid masks, sanitizer, etc was excellent.  There were many volunteers walking the crowds and asking for compliance if not already so.   Check-in was virtual.  Went smooth-no conflicts for the most part.  Same at take out.  A few of the artists dropped their masks at teardown.  Most kept them up.

There was a fair bit of buy-sell.  But I was told this is a normal thing for FH.

Our sales were very slow Friday and Saturday.  More stroling, not so many serious buyers looking for art.  Sunday things turned big time for us.  We ended up with a strong show.

I did have several potential customers balk about having to pay sales tax!  Two walked away.  That was a first for me in 5 years of art shows.

I was pleased and will probably do the show again.

  • I have not to this date, but was planning on doing it this year before COVID. Since I've posted I've read that many citizens of FH boycotted the show, saying they did not want a super-spreader event in their town.

  • Is this an event you usually participate in, Jeff?
