Barry lost his life this past Friday in a auto accident on I-95- traveling to an art festival. Over the past 20 plus years we have been great art fair friends. His acrylic sculptures were highly admired, and always top notch- he too was a perfectionist. He was always a joy to have as a neighbor. We had recently figured out a summer schedule- which included using our N.J. home as a staging point. I know he would have been really upset if another friend had lost their life, because of tire or auto failure--he would probably run around and remind us all to "Check your car NOW"- I hope I have said that loud enough for you to hear Barry--Fair Winds your booth is always next to mine.

Thank you, Patti, for this information. My condolences to his family who must surely still be stunned by this event. May their happy memories of Barry and his life sustain them through the very hard days ahead.
Barry's family wanted me to straighten out the wrong info concerning his accident...here goes...Barry was driving on 95 South near exit 168 there was a dip in the road, a 5" differential from the rest of the road, which caused the blow out and for him to lose control- he WAS wearing a seat belt AND his tires were in fine condition. The jolt caused either the tent poles or his sculptures to rush forward and hit him in the back of the head, which was fatal. R.I.P. Barry, we love and miss you always
Maija, Barry was NOT driving from Under the Oaks art fair ,which was the week before..he WAS driving to the Naples Invitational art show last Friday morning, and died at approx. 8:30 a.m.
How very sad. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family.
It is always sad when we lose an artist with such talent...I never knew Barry, but from what I read here, he must have been special kind of person. I am sorry for the lost. Mary Anne Maslanka

I met Barry when he was behind me at a beautiful show in a park a few years ago. I had just got all set up when he came and introduced himself and asked if I would be upset if we ran a generator. I said it was OK even though I really did not want to hear the thing all day and smell the fumes. He also asked all the other neighbors and then started the thing up. It was loud and smelly and after awhile he shut it off and figured out a way to run electric cords from a power source for his lighting. He later came around and apologized for the noise. I was touched by his concern for his neighbors, I did not know him but I could tell he had a good soul. My condolenses to his family and friends.
Barry was our dear friend- we spent so much time with him...we learned from him some interesting techniques he used for selling.I feel very bad that at the show Under the Oaks recently, he came to our booth to chat- I was trying to close a sale...realizing this, he signaled that he would talk later and left...I did not make the sale and I have also lost Barry forever.
According to the reports I read on line, Barry had a tire blow out, and his van rolled over twice. He wasn't wearing a seat belt and he was ejected. He was pronounced dead on the scene. Wear your damn seat belts! They save lives.
