"Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds," motto of the U.S. Postal Service Creed.

Do you ever feel in the same boat? When I see my postal service worker at my mailbox on beautiful days I give thanks in her behalf just as when I wake up on a beautiful day and say to my husband, "a beautiful day for an art fair." Right? I'm sure you know what I mean.

Last Thursday evening, July 18, some stalwart artists showed up at Sava's Restaurant in Ann Arbor, despite it being 9:30 pm, they'd been up since 8 am meeting and greeting visitors to their booths through the heat of the long day. It was such a pleasure to stop for a few minutes and meet them. Here are some of the people who showed up. Some of us looking the worse for wear after the long day and others looking fabulous!

  • Great to see some faces to the names!

  • I also hope, Jim, you are getting a little rest -- these recent weeks had to be thrilling and exhausting. So pleased to see there were orders from Ann Arbor and deliveries too ... guess it isn't "all over."

  • I did get the message, Connie. Still trying to get caught up with orders from Ann Arbor! I did well on Saturday, and have some deliveries still to make by next week. I may get that post written this weekend, or next week, though. I like the idea.

  • Jim, I hope Karen relayed my message to you ... you've been to some great shows this year and I'm wondering what does one do after such a fine Trifecta? Des Moines, Cherry Creek and the Original?

  • There is a reality show called "Naked and Afraid" where 2 strangers, a man and a woman, are dropped off somewhere without food, clothing, and shelter and they have to survive 21 days. I think anyone who can get through the Ann Arbor art fairs could be on this show and survive.

  • Jan Bell is a photographer from Bowling Green, Ohio. He's in the Original show, just down from me on North U.

Sorry I missed you at the booth Connie. I think that was the one time I went to the bathroom ;-)

  • You know that is what I thought he said "Jan", then I went to the art fair guide to find a Jan Bell and found John Bell, a photographer. I think "Jan" said he was a glass blower. Nice guy --

I was only there 2 days and am just now recovering and finished reporting! Hope you had a good show, Jim. I had a nice chat with Karen at your booth and got some good stories from her. Your work looked terrific. I really like the newest pieces.

  • Nice shots Larry Scott Berman. :-)

That's "Jan" Bell, not John... sorry to miss the fun, but we were way too whipped by the heat. We drove home (an hour each way), and slept immediately upon arrival. Tough weather this year.

  • That always makes for a good time.  We do that in the Chicago area also.  Usually after a Saturday show, I will organize a bunch of us to meet for dinner and/or drinks.   Or should I say Drinks/maybe dinner.   Drinks to celebrate or to drown.......  LOL.     Anyways, it is always a fun time.   Looks like you all had a lot of fun!!    If anyone is coming to the Chicago area, let us know and we will gladly meet you for a dinner.

  • Oh is that a new feature in cameras these days? Remote Scott Exposure? Ha ha ha
