Sure, Tom. I'd suggest to just follow your interests. Find a group or discussion that is speaking to that. Ask questions...there are a lot of helpful people here.

I'm with you on Wells Street -- what a waste of time and money for anyone with halfway serious work.

Hi Tom,

Just thought I give a hello from Naples FL. I have lived here for about 5 years. I came here from Peoria -- lived there for many years. Don't know if I ever met you. I am terrible on remembering. I was not in the art community, just knew a lot of people in it and went to the shows.

Hi Charlotte,

I wasn't very active in the art community until around five years ago - right when you left- sorry. I have been sort of stirring the pot in the area since then though. Help start a networking group of artists called the Bohemian Art Society - it's a group of artists that show in the area that get together once a month or so and share what works and what doesn't at local shows. We probably have a lot of mutual friends. Tom

Thank you kindly, sir. I read that if you want to make a living as an artist in your hometown you should paint the landmarks. Looks like you've successfully cornered that market :-}

Thanks for the welcome. I'm so busy getting comfortable with the "World of Art Booths" I don't have much time for anything else! It was a lot easier just sending my illustrations to magazines. I'll check out the advice on set up etc. and I'm sure I'll learn a lot from this new venture.

Hello Tom, I see you live in Illinois also. Not too many artists on this site form Illinois...or maybe I didn't look too close...
I am new to this site and in between getting ready for the art fairs and my job...i didnt have to much time to browse.

Hi Tom, thanks for the welcome. I too would like to semi-retire, which is what has got me interested in going to fairs. I figure I have around 10 years before that will happen and I had better get busy learning something that I really enjoy.

I see you have some experience in the art fair business. lol..I was at the one you describe as the worst art fair for you... It was a big block party not an art fair in my opinion. I felt sorry for the artists! I told myself I will never participate in that fair if I will ever decide to show my art. They had way too many vendors and there was way too much beer around!
I am newbie to the art and the shows... I am trying to get things ready for some smaller art fairs right now... pictures, tent ,applications (the ones that are not past due already) etc. There are so many things to do that I wasn't aware of... Right now I am having hard time getting the booth shot together :)))
I will post some pics later after the BIG rush... when I will be able to breathe again!!! I am also working on getting a web side together. Do you now anybody that designs webs? I have one person but would like more estimates.
Thanks for the invite...I will make sure to introduce myself if I will be able to make it.
