Years in the Art Fair Business
First show ever
My first show was at a church show where I sold all but one item - I was hooked every since.
What is your website?
What are the best things about art fairs
Meeting and talking to the people who will be fans and collectors of your work.
Best show ever and why
My best show was several years ago at a juried out door street festival. I won a first prize ribbon in the category - I can't remember what the category I entered. I sold out that day.
Worst show ever and why
The worst show was one where only 25 people came through the whole weekend and the only food vendor left at 1:00. It was pretty pathetic.
Who referred you to Please be specific.
Never left a show early - I am there to the end as you can get your best sales at the end of a show.

New Blog Series - The ABC's of Doing Art Fairs - A is for Advertising and Advantage

Posted on October 3, 2011 at 10:33am 1 Comment

Hey all!  Remember me?  The gal who did a 40 Questions Blog Series?  I had A LOT and I mean A LOT of fun doing the whole series here on as well as on my own blog -, but it wasn't until this summer a follower of the blog said - didn't you cover it all in 40 questions?  What more can you talk about? After some thought, I realized it never ends - the advice, the experiences,…

The Maryland Seafood Festival... My review!

Posted on September 13, 2011 at 8:54am 3 Comments

Greetings all!  I have been on a hiatus (of doing fairs) since May - mostly due to the scorching heat we get here in MD...  and since this has been a record breaking year in the heat department, I think I made a right choice.  However, was the choice right in doing The Maryland Seafood Festival?

The nuts and bolts...

Dates:  Sept. 10/11 from 10-9…

Hurricane Irene - art fair cancelations??

Posted on August 26, 2011 at 4:57pm 5 Comments

Hey all!  I am a Marylander and (while I am away on vacation) it seems the whole East coast is battening down the hatches.  Have there been any art fair cancelations?  If not, and you are doing a show in the Carolinas on the way up to the New York area, are you still planning on going and setting up (take a risk)?  Are you making the decision of not showing up?  Just curious as it isn't every day a big hurricane comes through...

I'm back and have a story to share!

Posted on June 22, 2011 at 8:52pm 11 Comments

I just want to say to Connie and all who particpate on this site that while I have disappeared for a month or two I am in love with this site all over again.  The content is great!  I love seeing booth shots and detailed reviews of art fairs.  The month of May was hectic - shows each weekend and no time to really catch up doing stock.  All the fairs were in Maryland and have to say Maryland is a good state to be in as my sales are better than last years totals.

The "story"…

Apparently You Can Damage a Trimline Canopy... Here's how!

Posted on May 3, 2011 at 7:29pm 7 Comments

First off I am a lover of Trimline and will always be.  You will see why I say so further in this post.

So it all started 1 week ago when on a sunny yet windy day I got out my trimline to wash it.  Go through the steps of setting…

Hi Michelle,
Your work sounds good, but I'm not sure it will pass our Jury. It's a very low key jury process, but their rule of thumb is: If you can look at it, it's Art, if you can use it, it's Craft. There are some exceptions, so I will send your information on to our chair person and see what she says.

I will keep my eyes out for a show that is a better fit for you down here. I just did one in April that would have been perfect. It was the Fred Huette Herb & Flower show, and Spring Art & Craft show (two shows in one). Check out There may be a Christmas show there in December, but it's not listed.

Have you ever done the shows at Chincoteague Island? I did Thanksgiving and Easter, but the sales were slow. I think I'll try Thanksgiving again, mainly because I like to visit the Island that weekend.

I will not be at the mall this evening until about 6pm. I go to Hood College during the day and it is located in Frederick Maryland but I would be more than happy to meet with you around 6Pm.
