First show ever
As potters, our first show was at Peter's Valley when it was held in the field on the site of the craft community. There was a barbeque and auction on Saturday night.
As promoters, our first show was New Jersey Craft Experience at South Mountain Arena in West Orange, NJ. Stacey Jarit of Artrider and Richard Rothbard were exhibitors in it. Isn't life interesting.

What are the best things about art fairs
The long standing friendships we have been fortunate to have forged over the thirty years of promoting shows is the best thing about art fairs; then add experiencing the talent and creativity of the exhibitors and watching that talent morph over the years.
Best show ever and why
As potters, our best show was Peter's Valley in the rain. The public was buying even as we were packing up. We even sold work to a customer who didn't have enough money to pay for all she wanted. We had us send us a check when she got home. And yes, she did send it. As promoters, the best show is at any our outdoor shows when the weather Gods are kind. The crowds come and we are all happy campers.
Worst show ever and why
As potters, our worst show was at the Park Avenue Armory (way before ArtRider). We made $250 for a three day weekend.

As promoters, Jersey City - wind tunnels were created between the high rise apartment buildings that were not there the five times we scoped the site, measured, etc. UGH!
Who referred you to ArtFairInsiders.com? Please be specific.
Not sure. Howard and I have been experiencing it together and I decided to have my own account.

We've been "hacked"!

Posted on July 26, 2011 at 7:56pm 7 Comments

There is definitely an email no one wants to open and see:  “FYI - your website has been hacked!”

A little over a week ago, on a quiet Friday evening with no plans to visit shows to look for quality exhibitors, Howard opens an email from one of our exhibitors telling us our website has been hacked.

Both our hearts sank as we opened the laptop and saw an image of Einstein with the words below: You’ve been hacked . . . because we wanted to.

We took comfort in the fact… Continue

Neither rain, nor wind, nor hail nor floods stops any of us in this business . . .

Who would ever have thought that with thirty years of promoting fine art and crafts shows, we would have a new weather experience: - nickel sized hail and over three inches of rain in less than two hours. Rain and wind, yes, many times, but a deluge that just didn’t move away - not when we were on site for set up.

There we were at Brookdale Park in Bloomfield/Montclair, New Jersey. It was Friday afternoon with 90 out of 145 exhibitors checked in and set up.
