Retirement from art fairs

Well after several decades of "part time" art fairs, this year will be my retirement tour for art fairs. I haven't posted much on this site, but would like to thank those who contribute. I've learned…Continue

A few thoughts from a part timer

Started this discussion. Last reply by Barbara Maria Zanelli Jul 27. 21 Replies

I just wanted to share a few thoughts (totally my own) on things I've observed over the past 15-20 years of art fairs and other venues where I've exhibited. If it helps anyone, that's icing on the…Continue

What do you think...?

I only attend about 4 local art fairs per year, but I send artwork (usually 3-6 pieces) to various group or solo exhibits about 8-12 times per year. This past weekend I delivered a piece of artwork…Continue

Why the "sameness?"

Started this discussion. Last reply by Robert Wallis Apr 23, 2017. 4 Replies

I tend to view artists, generally, as iconoclasts - at least the myriad of artists I know, including myself. So, I wonder, if all artists are encouraged to "be themselves, be unique," why do art fair…Continue

Hal Moran replied to Connie Mettler's discussion Any ideas on how to change demographics at the art fair?

Hal Moran replied to TC Crumpton's discussion Hanging metal prints on Flourish black mesh panels?
"I have the same Flourish mesh panels and I display the same size metal and canvas wraps. I use wire and D rings for my metal prints. I have the cleats to give to people if they want them. And, BTW, metal prints on black mesh looks great!"

Retirement from art fairs

Well after several decades of "part time" art fairs, this year will be my retirement tour for art fairs. I haven't posted much on this site, but would like to thank those who contribute. I've learned a lot from you all.I'm retiring, not because I'm tired or worn out but, for other considerations. (If circumstances were different I'd keep going until I drop.) I have several disabilities that are exacerbated by stress, excitement, and just life in general. These are the issues that influenced my…See More

hal, I would be interested in how you made your mesh panels I am switching over from rigid Graphic Display panels to the mesh ones for my Light Dome tent. Cost to purchase from Light Dome , Stabilizing bars plus roll up mesh would be about $700. plus shipping if I could do it for much less that would be great any help is appreciated, Virginia

Hal, thanks for the info and the pix, it looks very professional. one last question what were your costs into it?  Yes I can sew , have done my own custom window treatments for years , as a matter of fact I sewed my first set of panel covers for the graphic display panels plus  6 for my friend, ( never want to do that again) I don't have luck with groments as I have used them on various projects in the past, they always pull off of the fabric after a while. I used them on my Light Dome Flap to adapt it for a shade flap out of the back of my tent and two are off already. Any hints to keep them on.  Thanks, Virginia
