What are the best things about art fairs
Meeting collectors and sharing my passion for creating my art.
Best show ever and why
St Louis Art Fair - 1995, when they used my work to promote the show. It was my best selling show ever.
Worst show ever and why
San Antonio La Villita 2009 - Although I love SA, this show had absolutely NOTHING to offer the exhibitors. No booth signs, no programs, no advertising, no awards, no hospitality, no customers, NO SALES. NADA!!!

A great resource for my 2D art peeps for archival framing advice!

This is a wonderful resource for archival framing advice for my 2D artist peeps. There are videos, as well as photos and text to assist you in properly framing your projects. Metroframe also designed the wonderful frame profile for my architectural paintings on panels.

Art in the Square in Georgetown TX

This will be the third year for this show, run by promoter, Lynette Wallace. It is scheduled for the weekend after Houston's Bayou Downtown. Since I have friends in Georgetown that I could probably stay with, I am considering this show. The layout looks nice, in downtown Georgetown. Did anyone do this show the first two years? I would be interested in your feedback. Lynette has extensive experience as a show director, so I would think that she would probably do a good job promoting and in…

Our deepest sympathy is extended to our artist friend, Eugenie Torgerson, and her family upon the sudden loss of her son, Ryan, who died unexpectedly this week. Although, I was unable to locate an obituary, I did find this website with many wonderful tributes to this young man.

If you wish to send condolences to Eugenie and her partner, Edward Avila, her…

Reston - 13th year brings good luck, not bad!

The Northern VA Fine Arts Festival has always been one of my favorites. I find that they nearly always deliver a knowledgeable and appreciative crowd. Although the spring weather has often brought storms with winds tunnels from the tall buildings, this year was definitely a wonderful exception with near perfect weather both days. I only saw about 60% of the show and I thought it looked well juried.

This year, with a donation of a piece of art valued at at least $500, I was invited to…

January 14th was the notification date for the LFOA. I have not gotten my email with my notification, nor has it been posted on ZAPP. Does anyone have any info about this?

Hi Ginny,

I subscribe to a news service that matches journalists with people for them to interview for stories. I thought you might be interested in "pitching" yourself to this reporter. It could be a cool opportunity.

"I would like to hear from artists (part or full time, doesn't
matter) who are passionate about creating mixed media artwork, and
who have a presence online. If you have enough experience to be
able to talk about your inspirations and creative process, I would
be interested in having you do an artist profile, complete with
prominent links to your site(s). www.layersuponlayers.com is a

digital art, photography, sculpture, and mixed media fine art."

hi Ginny
Jim has a bunch of shows coming up in Florida.
Boca, Grove, Sarasota and Gasparilla. Then he is stopping in Atlanta on the way home to do the ACC show there. The kids and I are coming down for the Grove, but that's it. Too hard with school to take off like we used to!
Happy Holidays and a happy, healthy New Year!

We've been doing commissions. We applied to 6 shows this year and got into 4. Not the best business move but our living is frugal. How is your life going?

nice to hear from you. It will be fun at Cherry Creek ~ we will see you at old town, won't we?
Yes, Chuck has been working like crazy. It is the only positive thing about the terrible winter ~ lots of art gets made!
