Hi friends....Something I have noticed a lot lately at shows is when I greet people in my booth with a pleasant "hello" and a smile, they exit with great speed. What's the deal? It's like hello is…Continue

Hi Friends.....
Call me crazy, but I am in the very early stages of conceptualizing starting a fine art and craft show in my local area. We have a very good response to art here, as many know from the Belleville, IL Art on The Square. Anyway, as I am planning, researching and gathering data, I have some ideas that I would like to put forth and am open to feedback from fellow artists. Here are some early thoughts...
1. Autumn show, held in September or October,…

I was inspired by Jennifer's post about Bayou City to discuss The Distraction Factor..........
Well, friends, we have all experienced this at one show or another. You arrive, unload, sleep and start the first day of the show with high hopes. As day one begins, you notice the crowds are moving fast, people are there, but they all seem to be in one area. The area at the other end of the show, about a block or so from where all the artist are. What are they all doing…

I met a very nice potter from Indiana, whose name escapes me, that showed me where to park on the street where there were no meters. With his help, I found a spot for the first day.
The second day of the show (Thursday) is where the fun began. I went to the area that I had parked in on Wednesday and there were no spots left. I had heard there was a parking garage near the area of the show that I was in, so I plugged that into the GPS and found it. I parked and paid $12.00 for the…

Hi Friends....Here is my review of Ann Arbor 2013!
First, let me say that this was an experience like no other I have had before. I will summarize first by saying that I will do it again, it was profitable, it was grueling and it is not for the faint of heart! If there is a proving ground for art fair artists, Ann Arbor would be it. I am going to review the show like I always do and this time I am going to throw in some musings I had along the way. Keep in mind that I and…

Thank you so much for the positive comments. It means so much to all of the staff and I will forward to them. Once I figure out I am going to add to your post. Show was a challenge but with the help of all the artists and community we got it pulled off.
Elle..... Dont let it bother you. On my last two day show I sold $1,500 on Saturday. On Sunday I had one $89 painting sale. I had tons of compliments however and many said my booth was their favorite. What happened? I dont know. You can even have great and terrible in one show.
Welcome to ArtFairInsiders, Elle. I'm pleased to see you here and look forward to having you as part of our community.
