I do photography and have wondered why are we about the only people that do art fairs that do not have to produce their own work? Currently I am doing all of my own printing but at times have had…Continue

Why I do Art Fairs

Posted on September 29, 2014 at 11:30pm 12 Comments

This past weekend, I did a small, one day, art/craft fair, “Art in the Park”, in St. Louis, Missouri.  This is a yearly art fair with the proceeds going towards the maintenance of the park where the art fair is held.  This fair is held in Francis Park with the booths being along the two sides of a long, rectangular water lily pool.  The fair is held in late September and I have been told that for the past 5-6 years, the weather has been almost perfection, although this year, it did get a bit…

Good sales, should I continue to do art fairs?

Historic Shaw Art Fair - St. Louis, Mo

Posted on October 8, 2012 at 3:30pm 28 Comments

This show was my second show (previous blog on my first show a bit over a week ago)

This was my first somewhat major art show, 130 artists from multiple states.

I do photogaphy, florals and insects with a lot of macro shots and printed on water color paper.

I went into this show with great hopes but came out a bit disappointed.  The show begun on a Saturday that was totally overcast and rather cool, a record low high temperature for the date. …

My first art fair

Posted on September 24, 2012 at 3:04pm 31 Comments

I had my first art show yesterday, Art on the Bluffs in Columbia, Illinois.  This was a one day show in a small city about 20 miles South East of St. Louis, Missouri.

I am a photographer and my work consists of flowers and insects.  Most of my images are close-ups and I print them on textured 100% cotton water color paper with rather heavy color saturation.  My selling prices are for signed and numbered, matted prints in a 11x14 inch mat for $65 and in a 18x24 inch mat for…
