Call for Artists, Making Money at Juried Art Fairs, Craft Shows and Festivals

So we found out this weekend what a fantastic organization does when faced with torrential rain and high wind forecast for a 3 day event on the boardwalk - you move the event into the convention center, and plaster every media format with ads and PSAs announcing the move. And WOW!

Artsfest is one of our very favorite events. Extremely well run, great crowds, great customers, phenomenal volunteers and staff, beautiful venue, great area. Setup is uncomplicated, although you may have to dolly a ways if you are on the 'wooded path', but they have big 4 wheel dollies to use, and if you have a disability, they are on the spot with golf carts to tote your stuff. Break down is smooth, and you can set up a day early and break down on Monday if you prefer. I guess some…

Just received an "Invitation" from Juried Art Services to apply to the West Palm Beach Fine Craft Show in February. This lovely invite came with a $50 application fee ($75 if after 9/12!, but the website says it's only $70), and did note that ONLY last year's award of Excellence winners were grandfathered. 135 Spaces total. When you are charging booth fees like this:

Let me preface this review with the fact that I am a positive guy. Read my reviews - my attitude is that even if you are up to your neck in horse manure, the has to be a pony in there somewhere!
