First show didn’t go too well...

Started this discussion. Last reply by Richard L. Sherer Mar 15. 2 Replies

I didn’t sell anything, which I am completely fine with as it was more for the experience. But I noticed that hardly anyone looked through my prints or even stopped to look at my bigger pieces. I’m…Continue

Looking for clarification on restrictions for shows

I am a photographer. When the application asks me if my work is handmade, or the information says “do not apply if you do not make your own work”, how do I respond to that? I take all the pictures…Continue

I live in Florida and, from what I have been reading about the sales tax laws (and someone please correct me if I’m wrong!) it’s required to collect sales tax at the shows. In order to do that, you…Continue

Print Bin besides Pro Panel?

Started this discussion. Last reply by Robert Wallis Feb 22. 1 Reply

I am looking for a print bin, similar to the one Pro Panel sells, but I cannot find any for the life of me. Pro panel is perfect, just a little bit expensive for me right now as I just bought an…Continue

Larry Berman replied to Kristen Nazzaro's discussion Display2Go panels - thoughts?
"If you haven't figured it out yet, these are indoor panels and not meant for outdoor art shows. Look into breakdown panels from Pro Panels. Whatever panels you end up with, they have to have legs so water can flow through your booth when it…"

"I would add: research the demographics of the area before you apply. Can the people there afford your work or do you expect people who can to travel there to buy art? If you walk the show before you apply, look at the art and the people attending.…"

"Yes, yes, yes. The type of event where you show your work definitely matters. Events presented as craft shows, art shows, art fairs, art festivals, arts and crafts fairs all have different meanings and are somewhat regional. In the northeast of the…"

First show didn’t go too well...

I didn’t sell anything, which I am completely fine with as it was more for the experience. But I noticed that hardly anyone looked through my prints or even stopped to look at my bigger pieces. I’m wondering if it is because of the type of event it was. It was advertised as a craft show and not many people were there. The ones who were seemed more interested in the homemade candles and jewelry type stuff. Before I get too discouraged, I’m wondering if it would have been different if it were an…See More

Looking for clarification on restrictions for shows

I am a photographer. When the application asks me if my work is handmade, or the information says “do not apply if you do not make your own work”, how do I respond to that? I take all the pictures myself but I send them somewhere to make metal prints. Is that still considered handmade?Similarly, I noticed a lot of shows say ‘no reproductions’. Does that mean I can’t have multiple prints of the same picture? I also have calendars and coasters that I sell, all with my own pictures but I get them…See More

Robert Wallis replied to Kristen Nazzaro's discussion Print Bin besides Pro Panel?
"It depends on the size for your flip bin prints. You can use the wooden boxes from the hobby stores for 8x10, 11x14, and 12x16. This isn't the pro-panel equivalent, but it works well sitting on top of a 2'x4' table. I've also…"
