I'm posting what I know about Colorado in the Southwest group so it isn't lost in the rest of the shows being cancelled. 1. The small one day event, Hilltop Art Fair, Parker Colorado has been canceled. Booth fees will be refunded. 2. Art Market of…Continue

I am new to the Artshow world, in fact, 2019 will be my first season. I am in California so the number of shows available is limited compared to other areas of the country. I am a photographer and I think my work would do well in Arizona,…Continue

Thanks Steve for your blog post about Fountain Hills, there is a big hole in my art fair experience, never attended a show in Arizona ... info much appreciated.
Robert i posted a blog and i think i did a fine job. and no i am not going back. i did find a great restaurant with tai food and stayed with some great people. and no joe a. and his pink underwear
good for you i took a picture of one of the booths at the show and when they send me a survey ha ha ha am going to ask why this booth is in the show. looking for shows to do but weird tired of driving far
Steve - sorry to hear about your experience at Fountain Hills, we had a similar experience last spring. I think we made about 2X booth, thank goodness there was free RV parking. The sad part was that 20% of our sales came from 2 of my co-workers from my "day job" that were in town on vacation and deliberately came to that show just because they knew it would be the only chance to see us.
We had done the fall show once, back in 2013 and it was better, not great, seems like the show continues to go downhill and with at 1/3 of the booths having jewelry, it's just not worth it for us. We spent that weekend hiking in Saguaro National Park, much better use of our time.
Robert i wrote a review yesterday of the show but it never showed up, then i wrote a comment after your review
Steve,
Nice meeting and talking to you at Fountain Hills. I did this fair last year any my experience was the same as you. I did walk thru the entire fair this year and the quality of artist's is in decline as a lot of them will not do it anymore. I talked to several artist friends; painters, photographers and sculptors, on Saturday afternoon and all said sales were poor and would not do the fair again.
Where did you post your review, I can't find it.
Barrie, unexpectedly I found myself in Cedar City, UT, this past August. Who knew there was such a place ... and stumbled on the Shakespeare Festival!! Cool town, culture all in place ... don't know about the art festival ... but the Frontier Museum would be a place to contact for more.
i recently did the Great Fair in Fountain Hills, and was very disappointed in a show that boasted 50,000+ but far fewer than that. Made booth fee but not much above that. As i said in review, setup a nitemare, teardown was worse. It was a long 3 days, only weather problem was sunday when it drizzled off and on all morning. Lot of commercial at the show, ex. Windows, knives for the kitchen, Direct TV. There was some good art at the show but not much. There was a booth that i saw looked like it should be in a swap meet. Parking keeps getting further and further away from show for vendors as well as patrons. Lot of lookie loos (spell) Saw bags in peoples hands but not many. The one good point bathrooms were clean and semi close. Would i go back, NO not even if i was let in for free
