Outdoor booth flooring

I am interested in adding some type of flooring to by display.  I would love to hear suggestions and opinions from folks who have flooring-what have you tried?  What worked best? Do the interlocking foam mats hold up well?  Would a rug stay put?  Is flooring a trip hazard? Considerations for me would be portability, price and appearance.  Thanks for your input!

  • I use these foam floor mats to cover my entire 10x10 space:

They take up a lot of space in my car but they really make my booth look more put together. They come in all sorts of colors. Here's how they look in my tent:

  • Claudia,
I bought indoor outdoor carpet from Home Depot. Mine is brown with black specs. It comes 12ft wide & I got them to cut it at 10ft long (then I cut the other 2ft off to make it 10x10).
I put down plastic and then the carpet over it so it doesn't draw moisture from the ground. I roll up the whole thing & then fold it in half to haul it!
It seems to hold up pretty well & I havent had any problems with people tripping.
  • I use a large outdoor rug, it's all about controlling the dust and dirt so it doesn't fly all over my quilted bags and accessories.  though I do need to try the landscape pins............can't exactly duct tape to dirt or grass :)

    • Tina, this is a good time of year to get them.  I believe they are really made to tack down the landscaping sheets that keep weeds out.  You might look near that to find them.

  • We use flooring only in outdoor shows.  We use astroturf and use landscaping pins to hold it down across the front.  The weight of the fixtures help hold the rest in place.

  • Claudia,

I use the economy reversible soft floors from Alessco. They are the interlocking foam mat and have held up now for two years, I  do 10 to 12 shows a year. I keep them in the same box they were shipped in so it stores them together nicely, box getting a little beat up now. When they get dirty I lay them out in the driveway and  hose  them down, they clean up real easy. When I am on grass I lay down a cheap painters plastic tarp, $1.50 at Walmart, to keep the bottom clean and throw the tarp away at the end of the show. The flooring is 24" x 24" x 1/2", when I bought them they cost $101 plus $39 shipping, I  see they have  gone up a little bit. I have the black/grey ones. They could be a trip hazard but no more then any other flooring. When on payment you can duck tape the front down. When I am on grass I have this strip of black plastic that is about 8 inches wide by 8 feet long I got at Home Depot and I put it on top of the flooring at the front and secure it down with the little wires that you secure landscape paper down with. Hope this helps and good luck.
