And so it ends......

Having just completed my final booked show for this year, we have made the tough decision that we will be leaving Art Fairs behind. We've had many years of fun and mostly profitable shows, but our age and inability to travel has forced the decision.

We've learned a ton from this site and have been fortunate to maybe help some others with few posts also. I just published a post on my blog with a few general thoughts for others that may be considering jumping into shows. I included a link to this site (Connie, if that's not acceptable , please let me know and I'll disable the link.) For now, here is a link to that blog post, http://bit.ly/1LUIp6a

Thanks to all who share so much here. Come early spring I may be posting my tent, mesh walls and other equipment for sale here. It would be a local pickup in Southern New Jersey only.

It's been a great ride, but I'll be now concentrating on my gallery shows for sales of my work. I will continue to visit this site to keep abreast of trends and happenings.

Thanks a ton again and always be creative.

  • Quitting art fairs is easy,....done it many times.

    • LOL, Don't tempt me. :-)

  • What a cool blog you have, David. Well written and exploring interesting ideas. I especially like "when is a photograph finished?" Cutting back on the travel is hard, I miss being out on the road and live in a small town now but still need to travel. Hope you'll be able to settle in and use that traveling time and $$ to continue to make great photos and find a new life.

What was your last show? Did you go out and celebrate afterwards?

I've appreciated your postings and thoughts over the years and am pleased you've linked back to this site. Good luck to you.

    • Thanks Connie. Our last show was the WheatonArts Festival of Fine Craft which we had done for several years. We were too pooped to celebrate after packing, but did celebrate a few days later.

We won't be strangers here. I enjoy reading trends and successes of the fine artists on this page.
