Art Fair Insiders

Call for Artists, Making Money at Juried Art Fairs, Craft Shows and Festivals

My husband and I travel occasionally for art shows, and love staying at nice places. Recently we learned of an alternative that is world wide, and quite delightful. It's called , a consortium of spaces that vary from one bedroom to whole suites, apartments, lofts. And the price is very reasonable. WeAre staying in the lower level suite of a home in a gated community for $55/night and it is spacious, and the host is gracious. If you have not heard about it you may want to at least check out the site.

Are you in Novi tonight? That is a great price ... and the neighborhood can't be beat.

I went on line today to book our housing for Jackson, WY July show and ended up dealing with I looked at some condos but then wound up on site and they had an Airstream outside Jacskson and north of Wilson. Jean thought it would be fun so we got it for the long show weekend. I'm glad my wife is an "easy keeper", as I was dragging my feet about applying to Jackson because of housing expense in the middle of July.  It is less than half the cost of a condo.

I even more want to be part of your family. This sounds like so much fun.

Connie, yes, we came in yesterday and after setup for Great Lakes art fair we drove to our lodging. I took some photos but don't have my PC with me to upload them. Very pleased with our arrangements. Sweet woman that is the hostess/owner. Are you around the area? Will we see you at Great Lakes?

Yes, I'm familiar with Airbnb but haven't had a chance to use it yet.  My son, who used to travel a lot turned me on to it, it's a wonderful alternative to staying at a hotel/motel and usually less expensive too.  So glad you took advantage of it and it's working out for you...thanks for sharing.

I'm staying at AirBnBs when we go up to Seattle (from Denver) for a graduation and then the Edmonds Arts Festival.

I'm looking forward to the fact that one of them has two older dogs who share the yard of the guest house we are renting. Nothing like rent-a-pet and a hammock after an art show. :-)

I have some friends that swear by Airbnb. One found a place for 2 months in Chicago while she was doing an internship, so it can be good for slightly longer term trips too (like, if you book back to back shows in an area further away from home).

I'm more partial to pitching a tent somewhere near by, but I'm also a camping addict. :)

Sweet...or should I say Suite!

^^^=what she said!!!  LOL  Nice digs.

Has anyone tried this for staying out of the country? I was thinking of it for Europe.

I spoke with a friend who used airbnb while in France, Belgium and Poland. She tells me France is trying to make it illegal, but her accommodations were clean, reliable and safe. She mentioned in Poland they cooked great meals for her and delighted in getting to know her. I however have not traveled outside the usa
