Well, a show director suggested that to me recently.8869101091?profile=original

The main principles: Share, help others, invite your friends

All of us welcome you and look forward to hearing from you. This site only thrives when its members participate and not only do the "old" members have a lot of information they really appreciate it when you weigh in also and share your stories, adventures, questions, answers and reviews. It's all about helping one another.

Tell your friends about AFI and invite them to join.

You are new but that doesn't mean you can't welcome the other new members. Join in with a welcoming message and see if you can make a friend. This site has grown because of the interconnectivity of its members. Make a friend here and be next to them next weekend at an art fair.

A few other ways to participate:

  • share interesting stories from shows you've participated in
  • tell us about products that have made your art fair life easier
  • share your best advice
  • bring us the news about the latest relevant info in the business
  • interview an artist you admire and post it here

Still getting your feet on the ground and overwhelmed with all the available information? Check out the Get Started Guide at the top of this page.

The "deans" of the site are the people who have Red Dots on their profile photos. These folks have been around a long time and are really helpful.8869100695?profile=original

Now, tell us why you joined and what AFI can do for you and what you can do for us in the comments below.

Each person who comments receives our famous Red Dot bumper sticker.

Great to have you here!

P.S. Want to keep us in business without spending a penny? Check out the ads on the right hand side and in the supplier section at the top. You'll find even more helpful info.

  • Jill and Greg -- thanks for these comments. The more people contribute (and heaven knows, we are all overwhelmed with all the hats we have to wear) the more relevant the site will be.

I know just what you mean, Greg. When I see women in their suits and pantyhose I feel sorry for them. Someone wanted to give me a watch for Christmas. Why would I need a watch? I tell time by my computer ;)

  • Not sure what the headline has to do with the topic discussed.  It's a provocative headline and worthy topic. Are you going to write about that?

  • I joined Artfair Insiders back in 2011 and have found a wealth of information, help and a lot of interesting and creative individuals. At 65 I still learn something new all the time and love the fact that I have always worked for myself and really enjoy what I do.

When I look at people who wear a suit and tie and go to some office cubbyhole every day...the little problems we have to deal with as a creative individual seem trivial to say the least. We have it good...dam good...!

  • I have been reading Art Fair Insiders since last summer. The information posted on the site has been invaluable and the recent responses I received from my Category Question were excellent. I hope that I can pass on the help in the future! Thanks.

  • You have been a great new member, Elle. Thanks so much for all your helpful and friendly participation.

  • Hi Connie
First I love AFI it has given me a wealth of information on shows, equipment and selling techniques. I joined out of curiosity initially. I now use the site to research shows and stay current on what is happening in the art fair community
I will post reviews of my shows in 2013 and continue to answer questions from other members as needed. I also really enjoy the podcasts.
I have made new friends on AFI and really appreciate the site
