Just got back from this show, and drove all the way home with a big smile on my face. Yes, we had chilly, rainy weather. Yes, we had small attendance. And yes, we sold….This show is in it's 2nd year, and I see it getting better and better. I think we had 80 artists, we were set-up in a parking lot off the main street of a little village in Scarsdale, NY. The weekend weather report called for rain, but it was scattered. It held off most of the day Saturday, which by the way, was also set-up. A nearby deli offered a delicious, free breakfast to all the artists for both Saturday and Sunday. We opened at 10, and by 11:00, I sold my premiere piece along with 3 smaller ones without hesitation from the client. She was only there to drop her daughter off at the train, came to the show and bought from me as well as 4 other artists. My booth was at the entrance of the show, and I watched artwork of all sizes walking out all day long. The crowds were thin but extremely responsive. Sunday we had varying reports of bad weather which scared some artists away. Bill Kinney gave everyone the option to leave, but most were having such good sales that they opted to stick it out. Sunday we had drizzling rain off and on for a couple hours, then cleared up by 2, but that didn't stop the patrons from coming and buying. Sales and weather got better and better up until and even past close. I had great response to my work, sold several pieces - mostly large ones, and received a couple commissions. I can't wait until next year, and either can the patrons. They were very impressed, couldn't believe the quality, and accepted us with open arms… and wallets.
