Try This On For Size...I resemble that remark.

There has been much frustration expressed with the (almost) past year and the results of our labors. I just read this article about marketing oneself, it's not a DIY article but rather how to be kind to yourself as you figure it out. I find myself there often and am about to attempt to jump in again so the words of encouragement were well received!

  • That was an excellent article, Brian! Thank you.

An artist, an excellent printmaker, said to me: To Compare is to Despair. One of the reasons I try to stay off of the social media, it gets so dispiriting.

I just read Joyce Wathen's post about the ZAPP conference and one of the speakers talked about Being an Entrepreneur .. which we are, of course. Starting small, keeping at it is the only way to make it work. I especially liked the suggestion that if there is a marketing aspect you dread doing to find one you do enjoy doing. We can't stop marketing, making it pleasant and part of the process and fun is necessary. This is part of the reason why some artists love the shows ... it is the show! The show does the work of bringing those customers and then you get to market.

Let me know how that Amazon Handmade Market works. I haven't had a chance to look at it yet.

  • Absolutely timely for me! I'm trying to get myself on the Amazon Handmade site and it's killing me! Took half of yesterday to get two images up and had to remind myself, take one step...just keep moving, a little at a time!

  • I enjoyed this article very much and found it inspirational...good advice for all of us, thanks.

  • Good article! It's timely information for me ;-)
