Delray Affair

Did anyone do the Delray Affair in 2012? Could only find reviews for 2011 and they weren't great but one was hopeful for a turnaround in 2012.

  • Thank you so much. As a fairly new artist/vendor trying to make a living at this, it's just incredible to me to have this site where we can all share information. Thanks again
  • Not in 2012, but I did the show in 2009, 2010 & 2011. I live an hour from the show, so my only expenses were the booth and gas. This was not a big money maker for me in 09 or 10, but I did enough to justify putting it on my schedule for 2011. The layout for this show was bad to begin with. All of the fine arts (the little there was of it) was put in a park at the east end of the show. You had to walk through about a mile of junk, low end stuff, maybe 600 booths worth with lots of buy/sell to get to the fine arts section. Then in 2011, the show was not allowed to use the park, so they put the artists in a another park, 1/2 block off the beaten path. To make it worse, the show took the small area between the street show and the park and put a huge sponsor tent in the middle, blocking any chance of anyone seeing the work in the park. This was the last year I gave this organization any money. I did less than $150 in sales. If your booth is not on Atlantic Blvd., stay home. You will receive 1% of the traffic. Also, this is a low end buying crowd. Don't expect to sell anything over $100. Unless something big has changed, expect to be competing with vendors selling $5 knick-knacks made in China. Maybe that's an exaggeration, ok, $3 knick-knacks.
