Wow, now you've made my day - thanks for the kind words! The site, and the marbling initiative, are fairly new, about two  months for the former, 8 for the latter. I am still working on the site, and have to figure out how to let people sign up for email blog notices. Although I've only done, what, two entries so far? So little time, so much social networking to do! At the moment, the best way to keep up with my blog is to "like" my FB page, because I link new posts to it.

Prior to this I had a fun year doing upcycled fashion (mostly clothes, but the recycled glass earrings are a leftover from that), but it was just a short detour on my endless textiles journey. I've been weaving, quilting, spinning for decades, although never with as much concerted effort as I am now able to focus on the marbling, which seems to consume my every waking hour and some of the sleeping ones as well.

I've just "followed" you on Pinterest, so you should be able to track back to my boards from the notification you will receive. I look forward to exploring yours. Pinterest is a real mixed blessing: fun and full of ideas, but SUCH a time sink! Help, I've fallen into Pinterest and I can't get up . . .

I'm in Westchester, about 2 blocks from the Bronx border. You're in CT, right? I lived there for many years: Stamford, Norwalk, Bridgport and the last 11 years in Darien.

As for "riding the edge of success/failure," hmmmm, what an interesting concept . . I have to give that one some thought, and would love to hear your thoughts on the matter!

Thanks again for kind feedback on my work. So nice to have encouragement along the rocky trail we creative types tread!

Oh, no! Sorry to hear you're having a low day . . . 'tis the season, for sure. Even without show rejections (which are supremely disappointing and I'm so sorry), this is sort of "Slump Season" for us all, coming off the whirlwind of activity and adrenaline high of holiday shows. I have not marbled in FOUR weeks, and have barely been able to get out of the house. I seem to spend my whole day browsing for shows online, and I have scarves to photo and post! The weather doesn't help. This gray season is hard for folks like you and me who are nourished by vivid color! Maybe we need a new thread, "Slump Season Support Group"!

(And I don't admit this to many people, but I've spent hours and hours these past two weeks on Pinterest - not generally a sophisticated forum for art lovers, but there are just enough true creatives and pinners of the avant garde and experimental to keep my creativity fed. That, and I've been building juicy color boards for myself so I can go wallow in the BRIGHT whenever I need to, which is pretty often considering the brown and grey view out my window!)

Uptown Art Fair, Minneapolis, MN, Aug. 5-7

Friday, 12-8; Saturday, 10-8; Sunday, 10-5 T

his was my first year at Uptown, and it was a long way for me to go for a single show (I live in Virginia). But it was a beautiful show, well-organized and structured, and I had a successful show, well worth my time and the expense.

I'm an oil painter, with pieces ranging from $100 to $4500. Many of my paintings are large. Not knowing…
