Shoppe Artisan, Atlanta 2016

Shoppe Artisan brands itself as a busy, highly-marketed upscale art and craft show. Located in the Cobb Galleria Centre in northern Atlanta -- an inside show so weather was not going to be a factor.…Continue

Howard Alan Events - greed and no frills

Posted on January 27, 2017 at 10:16am 8 Comments

It's frustrating for me to be sitting here on the couch right now when I thought I would be on the way to an art show in Sarasota.

Why? The infamous "wait list" of Howard Alan events and the bottomless greed from applications they accept.

I applied to this show because another show I had scheduled for this weekend also fell through. I saw this one was still open and accepting applications and thought, "Great! This show is still open!" Since I had never been rejected from a…

2016 Summer Shade Festival, Atlanta GA

2016 Summer Shade Festival, Atlanta, GA

August 27-28, Grant Park

This show had me in such high hopes. Professionally done Artist Handbook, emailed out in plenty of time. Option to purchase an ad in the Festival Guide.

There was smooth check-in, excellent communication with the volunteers, and smooth load-in. The artists around me were excellent, in my opinion. Good proximity to the port-a-johns, an "intersection" of the sidewalks, and a local craft beer tent. I was near…

Salt Fork Festival, Cambridge OH, August 12-14, 2016.

Cambridge Ohio is quite a distance for a show for me. I try to stay within about 8-9 hours of home. This one was a little further, but I was able to break up the drive by staying with my father-in-law north of Cincinnati for the night.

This show made me feel like I had been "Zapped," if you know what I mean. It advertised a three-day show, juried art show, with lots of artist amenities. There were nice artist amenities.…

Boca Raton "Artrageous" Art and Fine Craft show

This show took place October 10-11, 2015.

I was prompted to write this and another blog post and review these two shows after my return from the show today.

First, I will say that I was in one of this promoter's shows in Kentucky and it was a very good day. I was encouraged to try another of their shows and it turned out this one was in South Florida. I was rejected from the "art" section and they suggested I apply to the…
