"Thats a long drive plus set up and break down time for only 5 hours.  But it appears no competition for QUALITY jewelry which would be a plus.  I would love to hear how it goes if you participate.  Good luck!"

"They are geared for mid priced merchandise- don't do much advertising.  Try Bouldbrook.net.  Treats his people well and draws a high quality crowd."

Dunedin Art Harvest

We started out with cool and wind conditions on Friday but at least we had a Friday afternoon set up. The Junior League did a find job of organizing the event and one of them helped me get my tent up. Saturday was again windy and cool with jackets a necessity. Sunday a bit warmer. There were good crowds brought out by lots of advertising. A continental breakfast was served both days and water was given to us at no cost. Lunch delivery was offered at a small charge and booth sitting provided if…See More

"Michelle, I have always felt it was my job to educate the comsumer as I sell. I think it is also my job to educate the promoter. I have recently approached the promoter of a local show (whose contract states hand made, by the artist, violators will…"

Does anyone know this promoter and can you give me some insight? They do west coast Florida shows and I am an east coast Florida resident looking for a fill in. I do elegant pearl torsade necklaces and need a customer who enjoys classic jewelry. I do not choose to do the ACE shows because of the set up time and total lack of ammenities. I would be interested in information on any west coast promoter who treats the artists well,  provides a quality show and enforces their buy/ sell rules. Thanks…See More

"Barbara- I was not insulted and I agree we all have crappy shows. This is one I will not do again as the attendees are too casual for what I sell. I thought the Sarasota residents would go to attend the event as well as the islanders and I was…"

Another in the long list of Howard Allen events. Well advertised. Hige crowds. Lots of dogs of all sizes. Beachy atmosphere and casual feel but few people parting with their money. In my section, beachy sayings on wood sold well as did the inepensive jewelry. Did see some floral arrangements and garden art going by but very few bags were evident. No one really raved about their sales. Weather was warm with a nice breeze both days. Threat of rain vanished as the day went on Sunday. Sunday was…See More

"Connie-No one meant to say I was sitting in my chair, it was a general statement about people who do. I wanted to let people know that no mater what we did people looked, said things were beautiful and walked on. I took no offense. Many of the…"

"Sherry, I did NOT mean to imply that you were just sitting there - I was just responding to Barbara's comment. Far from it, some times, no matter what you do you just can't make those sales happen."

What are the best things about art fairs
Watching the people who come to the events and meeting wonderful customers who appreciate my work.
Best show ever and why
Having the honor of being selected to participate in the members show and sale at the Florida Craftsmen Gallery in Saint Petersburg, Florida as it is the only gallery devoted totally to crafts people.
Worst show ever and why
Mount Dora Craft Fair in October of 2009. We signed a contract stating that we would only sell items that we made but buy/sell was everywhere. There were almost 400 booths and 1/4 of them were jewelry. The promoters stated that it was there job to bring people to the city so they really didn't about the craftsmen. The contract said they had the final say as to who was in the event regardless of the show rules and regulations. According to Sunshine Artist, 63% of the auditors would not return and half of the rest said they were not sure.
Who referred you to ArtFairInsiders.com? Please be specific.
I have never left a show. I have signed a contract and feel I should honor it. If I don't, why should the promoter?
