Get a smart phone and a Square Up account.  Zipity-do-da, and you have credit card processing!  If only they had invented this technology ten years ago.

Hey Michael, Thanks a lot, its little things from professionals like you that give me encouragement...I would pick pockets for info but would get the wrong pockets....It's great to have a place to ask. Tks  Rosie

Sorry Rosie, I was busting on Phillip, not you.  I have my photos taken by a professional - not a must, but unless you know what you are doing, it it worth the time and expense.  Larry covered the # of photos pretty well - each show is…

Rosie....Everyone had to start somewhere....I remember my first show...I was in my 20's, no tent, no credit card machine.  I had three peg board walls, painted and hinged together and one little shelf.   I took my own pictures…

Phillip - if you'd read the rash of recent postings of people asking the same questions over and over again, you'd realize that no, people don't read the forum before posting and you would not have to ask such a question ;-)

It's not that difficult to take pictures of paintings, if you have the right camera and lighting equipment. A tripod is mandatory and you need two lights at 45 degree angles to start. If you want to show detail as in brush strokes, move one…

It depends on the shows you are trying to get into, if you really want to get into the higher end shows professional photos are  a must unless you personally have strong skills. Each show has different requirements reqarding pictures, but…

Diane Wright replied to Rosie Bryant's discussion 'non juried art shows'
Having a show juried doesn't guarantee that you won't be next to tupperware or that it won't be riddled with buy/sell. Research of the show is the name of the game.

Lindsay Pless replied to Rosie Bryant's discussion 'non juried art shows'
IMHO if you do your research, there are still a lot of non-juried shows that are good shows and don't allow buy/sell folks. To get your feet wet, pick something other than a school or church show for sure but don't rule out non-juried…

Christine Heisler replied to Rosie Bryant's discussion 'non juried art shows'
Rosie, I wouldn't recommend too many non-juried shows, even to start with. They are generally a waste of money. I have been invited to participate in a few of them and have learned to ask what other vendors will be selling. Sometimes that…

Connie Mettler replied to Rosie Bryant's discussion 'non juried art shows'
Rosie, there are enough juried shows--really, as a painter, I can't think how you would do at an unjuried event. Maybe if you had some nice craft item that was functional you could do all right at an unjuried show. I'd guess that most…

I am still new at this too. Last year was my first year in art fairs I did about 20 fairs several were non-juried and I will never do one again. The customers were less interested in quality art and the quality of other vendor or lack of lowers the…

How to start...   Oil Paintings

Can you take pictures of your work?  Or must it be done by a professional?

When trying to enter a juried show, how many paintings must you send in,  is each show different?

I only have an ez tent and a table and easels for showing the work...does anyone start this dumb and

this small?

No credit card machine, is it expected?

Would appreciate any help..
