- So far? Lots of people cruising through, making comments, asking questions. Only one buyer tho....

Lots of artists I knew, patrons present, crowd was a repeat. Even picked up a commission on this one.

- City of Sparks Arts In Bloom Festival, Mothers Day, 2010.
Access was terrible coming and going.
Demographics were all wrong, dog walkers, runners and picnickers primarily, not buyers
Weather: location was a peninsula in a lake, very exposed, winds and rain shut us all down 3 1/2 hours early.
Terrible promotion, and conflict with another event that was much better from a visitor's perspective.
Zero sales, for a high fee for a one-day sale.
Close second:
Reno Aces Art and Craft fair.
Not juried, so lots of buy/sell vendors sucking up casual impulse buyers with cheap toys and bangles. No promotion that you would notice.

West Coast Recommendations?

Looking for feedback for best west coast venues for fine artists? I'm looking hard at the Boulder City Art in the Park fair coming up Oct. 2,3. Any sales forecasts? Opinions on quality of presentation for the price? (Over 500 samoleans at this late date) Also: Indian Wells Fine Art and Fine Craft Fair, Palm Springs, and Boulder City Fine Art Fine Craft Fair, both in April.

steve appel said… - if indian wells is the southwest show off of zapp good luck, friend did it this past year and it was awful. also you mentioned san diego, i was told anything south of orange co calif is not worth doing. i have a friend (artist) who lives in san diego and would not do a show there if they paid him. may want to try scottsdale in march it is on zapplication and time is running out.
